I managed some interesting bird portraits today. I was able to get withing 2 feet of them and remain completely hidden :)

Wow, those are amazing! The detail on these down to the snowflakes is killer! What kind of equipment are you using?

I am using a nikon d7000 and a nikkor 35mm 1.8. Also a Tamron 18-270mm zoom. These birds are attracted to a window feeder and I am hidden behind a black cloth with a hole that my lens fits thru. The detail on these shots is thanks to the close proximity to the birds.

Wow those are really nice. The bird in the forth from the bottom has a pout on his face that looks like my son when he's miffed. Would you mind if I use it for my desktop?

Regards

Neil

Thank you! Feel free to set as your desktop. The verticle crop isnt ideal but it should still be nice :)

PS That bird is a common redpoll

JaYbIrD1969 - Man those are some great shots. Were these taken from a blind for you to get so close? Do you mind taking a picture of your setup?

It is essentially a seed tray hooked on my outside window sill. im inside peeking thru the curtains. :)

The branch is a prop I added for a natural look.

Terrific! I especially like the one of the cardinal taking off or landing. I need to start using some of your staying hidden skills!

JaYbIrD1969 - Thanks I was thinking you were out in the woods in a blind freezing....lol. I use your branch trick on my deck from time to time. I also have a chair that has the blind built in that I use when its warmer out. Keep those great shots coming!

great shots, i'd like to see some birds of prey from a master like you :)

love the one shaking off the water, you should definately enter one or another to a competition!

greetings martin
