Update on they Tigerpyge

That's funny... people always ask me if my wife supports my obsession and I say no... she tolerates it... :) If she was still in the support stage I would probably push her further, taking the 35-40 angels I now own perhaps up to all of the ~90 species until she was back to just tolerating! You cannot call yourself a hardcore reefer unless you have had your significant other :blown: you at least a few dozen times...:fun2:

Ditto

HAHAHA!! Tell me about it John! I have 5 QT tanks running around the house with angels and others in them waiting for my 600g...if it was up to my wife I would have 0 tanks :)

A local 15 year old kid was also visiting... a really good kid... he was stepping down in my fishroom from a stepladder when I heard a crack... he had stepped on my calcium reactor and broke it... I stood there for about 15 seconds with my head tilted like a dog hearing a high pitched noise in disbelief as water spilled onto the floor... needless to say, that killed the mood... :D After some swapping around, some two part solution, an expensive repair, and a whole lot of time, I was back to normal... he offered to pay me, but I told him that the repair cost money meant a whole lot more to him at his age than it did to me, and I wouldn't take a cent... on one condition... when he was in my position in 15 years and the same thing happened he wouldn't charge the kid either! :)

He told me about this when I asked how he got home from the meeting and knowing that you can survive after the banded angel with Kevin, I have to admit that I laughed hysterically once my jaw lifted off the ground!

I haven't been following this angel too much until recently as my curiosity is piqued, but everyone in this hobby knows that once you're hooked, it's like a drug... gotta buy more fish... gotta buy more corals... gotta buy blue ring octopus... gotta buy Australian corals... gotta buy...

Yup. The only thing keeping me from buying rare angel after rare angel is minimum wage...:p

I do hope all is well with Matt, I have spoken with him several times and I do feel as though he means the best. He is/was an eager young aquarist with a grandfather who saw is passion and had the means to fund it. There is nothing to hate about that, yes some may be jealous and wish they had the same means, but it is no reason to bash him.

As for the wife acceptance, I consider myself extremely blessed. Megan, my girlfriend/soon to be wife loves the hobby as much as I do and supports me 100%. She really has a nack for this and was hooked as soon as we met and she saw my 6 reef tanks ;).

Now she has two of her own, an Elos Mini and as of yesterday an Elos System 120. :)
Gah, I love that girl!

Landon- Enjoy the time you have being able to inject all of your funds, I was the same way in High School and Most of College. Once that is over "more important" things seem to suck up your reefing money ;)

according to his update, all is well...

:hmm2:

Without a dated pic of the fish I am still very skeptical that the fish is alive, regardless of what Fishkid claims. Why not come into this thread to update and prove us wrong? Did he post any pics with this update?

Just read his update from his 180 Gallon build thread when asked about the Tigerpyge:

"it's doing good. all my fish are fat and healthy but my SPS isn't doing good. i had a major algae problem but it's slowly clearing up. thanks. i don't have much time for updates with work and school. sorry."

Not very convincing. I directed him to this thread, although I am pretty sure he is aware of it already.

With the tone of some of these comments, I wouldn't post either. You're calling him a liar, yet you want him to take the time to post pictures and update the status of his livestock...?

:rolleye1:

Why not post? This thread has existed for several weeks and I am sure he had plenty of time to respond to the speculation. If someone was calling me a "liar", I would do everything possible to prove them wrong.

Someone purchased a high profile and much talked about fish and a big deal was made of the fish by both the person who bought it and everyone else. That person has a right to share or not share that info but being such a high profile fish it should be expected that many people will want to know the status and I think he should share the info.

If someone was publicly calling me a liar (without ANY proof), I'd more than likely ignore them.....and go about my business. I highly doubt Fishkid cares about what people on an online forum think about him.

I hope all is well with Matt.

I think this thread is hilarious. Why is there a thread discussing Matt just as much as the fish? Either way, I have sat back and laughed and been appauled by how people can sit on our high horses and judge our fellow hobbyist. The great thing about when people post is that we can infer that their thoughts are much more damaging than what they actually posted.

Are you posting merely to defend Fishkid? Do you have proof the fish is alive? Were you not curious as to how the fish was doing when you checked the thread and made your last post? I feel he has not posting updated pictures, or responded to PMs by several people who have conversed with him privately previously, or responded to this thread, or updated John Copps after a previous phone call asking him how to save the fish, or......(you see where this is going?) If this fish is still alive, that would be awesome and I will be the first person to apologize for doubting him. Bottom line, I along with most of the posters in the thread feel that the fish is not alive.

Do you have proof it's dead? You are the one calling the guy a liar, and then expecting him to share information with you.

I am curious. as is everyone here. There is nothing wrong with that. The problem I have is the way people on here disrespect others, and then expect to get information out of them.

or updated John Copps after a previous phone call asking him how to save the fish,

One could also argue no news is good news? There's a reason he called Copps in the first place, instead of just posting here. My guess would be he considers John a friend, and didn't want to deal with random strangers crucifying him on a message board.

Hello guys, i am extremely sorry that i have not commented on this thread. I don't really use the forum much anymore so i didn't see it. The tigerpyge is alive and well. I will try to take some pics now to prove it to you guys(hopefully he isn't camera shy today). Though i think my word should be enough(most of you know me and I'm not a liar). I know you all just want the best for the fish as do I. Thanks.
