Recently Richard sent us a CARE package to replace some of the clean up crew we had lost. He threw in some very nice extras. Here are a few pics taken today. . .

Sea Star. This guy attracts alot of attention

Tank shot (trying to avoid glare) See the pin cushion urchin? My favorite critter for sure!

This is Stinker the Blenny. There is a very big red tree sponge behind this rock. The decorator crabs have had a field day re-dressing themselves with pieces they have cut from it. I'll post pics of them if they cooperate.

Mithrax crab is getting a little big for its own good.

You can feed the star small pieces of raw shrimp, nestle it under one of his arms...he should grab it...

Stinker looks like he is full of it!

You know what is neat is that your tank looks like the aquaculture site, as all the inhabitants are from the farm!

Yes, its purity and region specific biodiversity make it an excellent teaching tool for our Coral Reef Conservation and Underwater Naturalist courses. It helps me show divers how to look beyond those "schools of pretty fish."

Steve, thank you! It is a happy tank, and seems healthy as the gorgonians, fans, and everything else thrives and grows.

Here is one of the decorator crabs. It started out so small it was difficult to find. It has molted at least once and is easy to spot now (it's about the size of a dime). It has red sponges, tunicates, and another type of soft coral colony with which it has dressed itself.

Was seeing all the power outages, and flooding in Houston.....did not look good!

Poor Galveston!

I went out this am to take a look at the Gulf.....this am.....is dark brown....won't be any diving for a few tide changes......

Yeah, the guys over at www.nanotuners.com are waiting for skimmers from a supplier who is in the huston area...
it's a mess, I saw a map of the area for power and the core area is just OUT!

huge area to get power back on...
