If I recall correctly, my Blue Chalice frag came from Gary (also from Mustang I think). I'll probably frag mine and put a piece in the refugium to see what happens.

The Blue chalice I like the best is Gary's... Saw that this weekend, amazingly bright coloring on it.

The Echinopora or the shrooms? The shrooms have reproduced very slowly for me. I think I have six or seven now, all on one rock. Any clue how to get them off? I hear if you try to cut them off they will not survive. I'd trade one or two if I could figure out how to get them onto separate them.

How to frag a mushroom rock:

1. Purchase 1 large hammer and 1 flat-bladed screwdriver.
2. Remove rock from tank and place on concrete surface.
3. .......

I'm sure you can guess #3
Seriously tho, with a dremel tool and the cutting wheel, you can fairly accurately cleve a rock where you want it, even really porous Fiji. I've gotten a bit of practice at it removing 'shrooms and BSP's from my tank.

Yeah, Gary got his piece of the Chalice from Ken too, right around the same time, IIRC. Ken got his from... someone, who got it from Tyree's shop I think (should get him to chime in on this). Gary's is looking way better tho. Really bright greenish-cyan color. I think if I could get mine to color up that way, I wouldn't mind the fact that there's nothing 'blue' about this coral.

In the past I have just taken a sharp blade and sliced the shrooms right at the base. Then just let them float around your tank, they should eventually attach themselves to a rock or to your substrate. You can also place some netting over them and rubberband the netting to a rock and they will attach. I have had these methods work for red, purple, green and blue shrooms. GL.

Mac, The one you have is suppose to be from the Original Tyree Chalice, A guy in Saginaw Mich Ray Turner, Triggerfish** (something) here on RC said he purchased it directly from Tyree. I know last year he took his tank down so I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t think he is around anymore
I don't know how to check that. Maybe I can have Tyree check that when he come over to my place for the frag swap on the 15th of May.
He may have kept records of whom it was sold to.
Now with that said I have also come across other colonies of Enchipora That has the exact same color and skeletal structure of the Original Thatââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢s why I like to make sure I give the disclaimer about it not being the original. I know no one would ever know the difference but I am just not into using the ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œnameââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ to sell/Trade it. I also had the purple one that you now have that was just a coral I found at the LFS

So right now I have my original colony that is suppose to be true. And others that I am sure are the same but not from the original colony
I guess it would have been easer to just sell it the original I am just not like that
Either way they are very nice color Enchipora

Did that clear it up? I will try and send Tyree a e-mail this week I have been talking back and forth with him about his upcoming trip to Mich so I will see what I can find out

EDIT: it is Triggerfish671 I just e-mailed him to see if he is still around His last post was 9/22/03 selling his tank

I want a shot of your tank with the sun in the skylight shining down on the tank. Find out what day the sun goes by your skylight.

The day has arrived. Around 9 am in mid April the sun begins to stream in the skylight enough to shine on my big clam in the center of the tank. No mere picture can show how nice a Tridacna looks in full sunlight! The sunshine coming in the 2' x 4' skylight blows away my 1,000watts+ of artificial lighting and causes very pronounced 'glitter lines' that look natural- probably because it is[/I] the real thing! The fish flash in the sunshine. It's awesome- and it's a light that never needs replacing

I know that clams look one thousand times better while sunlight is reflecting off of them. I can't get a pic that shows what I mean, though. The reflections remind me of a Morpho butterfly- iridescent. The only other places I've seen clams in the sunshine are Harbor Aquatics and Tropicorium.

The only things I have seen him touch are Zoanthids and a Candy Coral. Oh, and those freakin brown star polyps. I can deal with that.
