Used Vortech or 2 jabeos?

FWIW I started my 60 cube with a Speedwave 790gph return, and Jebao WP-25 and WP-10 as power heads. I now run an Eheim 1262 return and a MP-40 as the power head. The Jebao and Speedwave never failed but the Jebao's noticeably deteriorated in flow over time that would be partially restored by a good cleaning. My MP10's that I ran on my BC29 always performed great whether I cleaned them or not :) The Eheim is is a solid performer with a pretty much spotless reputation. The old stuff will now be my emergency backups.

Interesting.

Even more interesting, 9 out of 10 times more interesting.

Equipment decisions in this hobby are important, more important than for other hobbies that do not include keeping living creatures alive. Choosing equipment based on low price or hype supplied by people incentivised by the mfg. may not be a wise choice. While I will not support Jebao I have bought a Waveline DC pump, which is the same pump that Jebao has relabeled and is selling, and though it hasn't failed it is close to it. It will never fail because I will never use it again.

Was this just way too hard to understand or ambiguous? Really?

I wouldn't consider the Jebao as having a good record, way too many failures in far too short of time.

Comparing it to a Vortech is silly, apples and oranges. I never really understand why people do that? Maybe because they will look silly comparing to a Tunze? Compare it to a Tunze, which is what the Jebao was copied from. When you do that, the Jebao looks like what it is, a cheap knock off product. There are many of us with Tunzes over 10 years old, and some with over 15 year old Tunzes. I highly doubt any Jebao will make it to the three year mark. Junk is junk, hype is hype. Quality stands the test of time and bottom tier Chinese knockoffs never stand the test of time. You can buy better quality Chinese products, but they do not have Jebao written on them.

If people are happy with low priced, low quality items that fail in a short time or have to constantly clean them to keep them going, then maybe their priorities are off. Spending a little more to get something that lasts is always a better use of money.

I have two recently installed WP10s hooked up to my Apex. One of them works great, the other doesn't like low voltage and shuts off on lower flow patterns.

I bought them on Amazon for $38 each. I'll order another one, have it here in 2 days (with Prime shipping) and when it gets here, return the one that's not working with my Apex. UPS will pick it up at my door for free and Amazon will refund pretty much immediately. No hassle at all.

I can afford a Tunze but the footprint is too big for my nano. I can afford an MP10 (but at their price point there's no way I could justify two) and the comments I've heard about the noise and the need to replace wet/dry sides are dealbreakers. I'm all about quality products, even for a nano, but in this particular case it just doesn't make sense not to go with Jebao when I can pay a fraction of the price for a programmable pump and replace it in 2 days if something goes wrong.

I've run jabeo in my tanks since they came out with the wp40. Love them no issues at all. But recently got an mp40 used and I absolutely love it.
