UV Sterilizer - Good Idea? or Not?

Greetings,

I have started building my System and was wondering about a UV Sterilizer. Given the need for Zooanthellae, I am uncertain if a UV Sterilizer would be a benefit to the environment or extremely detrimental.

I would rather not have 1, since it increases my power signature and is another source of heat. Although, if it a “good” idea, then I will go ahead and set it up.

So, is a UV Sterilizer a good thing, neutral or bad idea?

Zooxanthellae shouldn't be affected by a sterilizer...it lives within the tissues of its host creatures.

Its really up to you but my experience with UV sterilizers has been nothing but positive. I have not seen a negative effect in any of my tanks.
