well, i finally got myself a frag of these and they look nothing like they do in other peoples tanks and pictures. so i would like to see some pictures of other peoples Valentine's Day Massacre frags or colonies and please give me some specifics about what lighting you have them under.

i will post up pictures of mine here shortly to compare.

I've tried 3 different times, good flow low in the tank to middle. Not directly under the light.

Had some grow from 1 polyp to 20-30 in a couple months. but are very sensitive.

The 2 last frags I had were growing REAL well till I had the KH issue with VitaC then lost all.

ok here is a picture of mine. this is the best i could do for the time being. they are off to the side of a 14k pheonix, 1 10k T5 and 1 aquablue special T5...

the guy i bought them from had them under 400w 20k radiums.

i think they look pretty freakin nice.everytime i get zoos,or palys,well half the time anyway,they dont do very well under my halides and lower nutrients that i have in my sps tanks.My sps do great but no luck with most zoos and palys.i think i will need to try a couple of those.

They don't seem to look like your typical VDM's. I've had 4 differnt times and always looked like these..

Mine are dime to penny size now after 3 months. They looked like tiny zoas when i got them....15" under direct t5 lighting w/med-low flow....78 degrees.

650... that is exactly what these looked like under 400w 20k radiums. so i guess i either need to change out my T5's to something different to get that color or just wait and see if they color back up.

Please don't mind the poor quality of the pic. Their color is a little lightened up. I think it's because of the low nutrients in my tank and I put it too high up in the tank before, but I've just started dosing AA and moved them a bit lower so we'll see if it helps.

Mine look exactly like the pic 650 put a link to. Nice dark red like my nightmares (without the sparkly) black lines throughout and the white mouth.

I have mine a foot below 250 mh with good to semi strong flow.

ok, so it seems that these like pretty decent flow and good light so far. maybe i should have them more under my halide if thats the case? they are great looking but i really wanna try and get them to pop like in my friends tank. i would really hate to change out my bulbs for a couple of frags though when everything else is loving life right now.

I've been told that these are both "Massacres" and "Nightmares", not sure on the exact ID.

I have them in high light and medium flow. FWIW, they are VERY slow growers and pretty tempermental.
