Venting fish room questions

Ok I have a question for you guys. I bought two of those 4" dryer vent things to drill into the side of your house to pipe the air out. I get the out going air...it's pumped by a fan but how do you guys have your in going air? Those vents are designed to close so no air comes in. Did you just bust that flap off?

Pics and descriptions would be great
Thanks

You might want to consider the Panasonic passive inlet vent.

It is designed to bring fresh air into a house.

Found it on the web but have not seen it in any building store yet. Mind you I wasn't really looking for it, yet.

Ok had some good discussion in my thread so thought I'd post here for more help too

someone found this and said it was available at lowes

110CFM's...I would like more but my room is only 6ftx8ftx7ft or so. That enough? Also, do you know what they cost.

$200 might be what it costs...wonder if that would be enough for what I need or if I should get a real inline fan and a humidity sensor??

So does anyone have a recommendation on a fan? I like the idea of a bathroom box style like nickjj showed at Lowes and if it senses humidity COOL! If it burns out then I could still find a replacement in town.

I did some searching on ebay and missed my chance to buy an inline fantech fan...it went for $66 :(
I found one for 99bucks

$69 bucks for a used 100cfm fan!

170cfm for $127

I guess my 3 things are 1) what fan to get and 2) how do you keep the inlet vent from being open all the time. 3) do I put the fan pushing the air out of the room and use neg pressure to get air in or have it suck fresh air in and have the pressure push the humid air out

I need to figure out how I'm going to do this before I sheet rock the ceiling. Pretty much at a standstill till I get the fan plumbed in

Thanks

Can anyone with the Fantech inline fans comment on how noisy they are? I was under the impression that you would only need a slow exchange of air in the room to reduce the humidity. Isn't it like anything else in this hobby, a slow gradual change is always prefered.
Getting a high cfm fan will drastically change the room environment and possibly be harder to control.
You really just want to get that moist air out at the top of the room as efficiantly as possible.

btw for my situation having a quiet fan is extremely important since my fishroom is above my kitchen and i didn't want the constant humming of a fan. The fan I suggested earlier has a .7 sonnes rating. Can't get much quieter than that.

.7 sones you won't even hear. I've done that little switch test thing they have a lowes an the 1.0 ones you don't hear

I just bought a 50cfm for the hoods and a 70cfm for the room. They are both 4.0 sones I think. Cheap though and I don't think I'll notice much
