Hey I have a 120gal sps system and im changing my sump because I need a new skimmer(mine sucks)and in my current sump/fuge the skimmer sits in the return section and just fits my eshopps 150 cone.

Just got a new eshopps r-300 sump/fuge so im upgrading my skimmer as well.

Looking at either one of these as posibilitys;
ATB 8.5 deluxe
The new Reef Octopus POV pro cone with DC pump
Vertex alpha 170 or 200

Any other suggestions?

Love my alpha 200 on my 180g, but it needs to sit in a minimum of 10 inches of water to work properly so if your sump cannot do that it would be a problem.

the total power consumption is 37 watts and the depth is 7 inches but dont quote me on that. I had to raise the skimmer up a bit bc it was sitting to deep. There is one for sale on the used products fs main pages. $595 dollars. I love mine.

Anyone else with an elegance? I still cant make up my mind on a new skimmer, I want to order one asap but since im looking at getting a nice top of the line skimmer and dont want to wish I got something different once spending so much $, ya know?
Thanks all input is welcome

I really like the low power consumtion on the red dragons! But can anyone confirm for me whether or not the top of the neck is too big or not on the alpha 170 and if it gives a good consistant head of foam or if it requires alot of adjusting?

You cannot adjust the neck. No need to. You adjust the air intake with the red pipe by twisting it and that is all.

Don't worry. This thing cranks as long as you have it in the right level of water. Big head and big sludge.
