Vertex Illumina LED Fixture - My New Toy Is Here!

Wow! a 12 " fixture possibly covering a 36X36 - impressive to say the least, certaintly looks like it's covering the 30X30 no problem.

I understand the new models now come with cree's, even better.

Thanks for the picture.

Correct, this is the 200, not the 260. The 200 had Phillips Luxeon, while the 260 uses a higher output Cree. I'll get some better photos of this later when I'm back over there.

Here you go, let's try this again....

This is a 12" fixture over a 30" x 30" tank, which it covers it perfectly, and would probably actually cover a 36" x 36" if you needed it to.

Does this picture show the recommended height of proper installation? I hope not as I run mine maybe 3" from the top of my Rimless and probably 5" from the waters surface. It is a 5' unit over a Elos 150 which is 60x24x24

Thanks for the info

That's just the height we had this one at to get the spread. There is no lackof intensity / par reaching the bottom, and with Vertex not using any optics, the spread is awesome!

Sorry to bump an old thread but I am doing some research and I saw the pic you posted of the 12" fixture over the 30"x30". Do you think the 12" would work on a 40 Breeder seeing it is shallower, it will be mainly SPS but nothing really on the outer 6"s of the tank? Also any word on when you may be getting these in?

Here is an update

I have taken down my Vertex and replaced it temporarily with an ATI Powermodule 6 bulb. Thats what I had so thats what went up. I cannot get SPS to grow/stay alive under this light. I have asked several people but have had zero results to date. I tried different light schedules but nothing seemed ot help. The ATI test is a simple one. Leave it up for 60 days and see if things improve. With no other changes in the tank it stands to reason that if things DO turn around then its the light

Veyry sad day for me. I championed these lights from day one.

There's no way it's due to the lighting. I've seen way too many experiences otherwise, as well as my personal experience to say that this fixture will not grow sps. There is something else that is at play here.

Thank you for the response. I am open to any and all criticism. Parameters are stable. I have a 90g 4ft by 12" deep frag table full of happy SPS frags being kept with the same husbandry. Only difference is the lighting. Thats where the ATI fixture came from.
Same:
RODI for top up and WC
Same Salt mix
Same food for fish, was using zeo on both tanks but have switched to pellets, vertex ca reactors, ph and alk very close (never exactly the same) from 7-9 and 7.9 to 8.2 ph.
BK skimmers in each, 200 and 180. Flow is the same, have 3 MP40s in DT and 2 Mp40s in frag table
temp is 77-79 in each tank

I have been at this for a long time and just cant figure it out. The light was introduced slowly. It has been running for months. I dont know where to go, am I giving too little light or too much?

At one time I had it maxing out at 85% white for 6 hours with a ramp up and down of one hour each then someone said NO NO NO thats way too much, that coral uses the blues more to grow so I went down to 35% white. One kind reefer sent me his script to use but either Im a ******* or am doing something wrong as I couldnt upload it. What I need is the script people are using so I can put it on the light software and try again with what people are having success with

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I love this light! everything about it except the fact I cannot make it work for me. The energy savings, the low heat it emits, the absolute dead silent running, I mean it is the best thing since sliced bread but I need help as I am at a loss.

Jeremy would the sr260 1200 be enough to cover a marine-land DD250?

The rock work is currently configured as a berm toward the center of the tank. SPS located towards the top and LPS and softies at the bottom.

The SR260 1200 would have absolutely no problem at all in covering that tank, at just about any height you want it. You could have the fixture as close as 4" to the surface and still be just fine with coverage, no spotlighting, etc. The spread is truly amazing.
