how is pump connected to body?

The pumps are connected similar to the collection cup. There is an insert with a silicon O ring which the pump outlet slides into. Very low profile, compared to a union helping to reduce the footprint of the skimmer.... and a really good for maintenance as it is just a slip fit.

I can't get mine to stop flooding the collection cup no matter how i adjust it. Is the break in period really that bad if u dont warm water, vinegar bath it?

if you put any additives or chlorine remover in your water than your skimmer will go nuts, or overfeeding can also. what model do you have and how deep of water is it sitting in.

Actually i just solved the problem I had the out put pointing out of the water instead of down...

try making it parallel with the waterline, so it can get some air in there too. This takes away back pressure and will make it even more consistant most likely. :)

Thank you.. it took me a moment to understand.. But i do now.
Is the piping is metric ? Will a PVC pipe slip into it?

Dlucia, a lot of people have been talking about back pressure on pumps and how affects the level in the skimmer, and it's overall performance. I believe you can turn your 90 a bit so it is at an angle and air can be released out of the end. Or, you can drill a hole in the top side of the 90 to release the pressure, about 1/2 inch. I drilled mine and have had no probs.
This has been mentioned a bunch in other threads, and this may solve your fluctuating issue.
I have no experience with resun pumps (only OTP 3000, rio, and sicce) because I have owned only 3 skimmers throughout my reefing time, and I know Sicces do not like back pressure.
Hope this helps.
Looks Like Tang is right about the back pressure on these pumps. I lowered my water to 7 inches and turned the 90 degree elbow just slightly and the skimmer is running much smoother. TANKS TANG!!!! HAPPY REEFING... ANYONE ELSE TRY THIS?

Just got my auto top off skimmer now sets in about 7 1/2 in of water elbow just out of the water skimmer is running great

what water level in the sump do you guys find to work best...looking to buy a in-100 gen2 soon..

as far as I know the gen2's work best at the same water level as the gen1's. I'm running the gen1 in-100 and love it.

8 inches :smokin:

8" is doable..i have 9" in the sump and i can raise the skimmer an eatra 1" and be able to take off the cup...i have 22 1/2" total height in the stand

I have the IN-180 and I'm seeing about 1 5/32" outside diameter on the pump outlet. Not sure what that equates to in mm, but 3/4" pvc would probably be the closest fit. You would need to add a little teflon tape on the outside to make it a good seal..

I am planning on making a custom 24 gallon nano. Would the IN-80 be too much for that size tank. The sump will be about 10 gallons. It should have a 3gallon baby refuge.

I don't think the IN-180 would fit in that small of a sump.
I'm using a 20 gal sump and barely have enough room for all of my equip. I am in the process of piping up my old 55 gal to use as a sump/fuge to hold everthing.
