Vertex Skimmer club

I have the IN-180 and I have experimented with different water levels inside my skimmer. I currently have it an inch above the collar on the riser tube. It seems to be skimming okay but not sure where it is most effective. Any input? Where are guys having the best luck?

sorry mojo, i ment to say 1000, i just fat fingered my phone when i typed that.

its just that while i know i want to go plus one on my skimmer, im just concerned that a 180 would be too big for my planed 90g. im hoping that a bb 1000 pump would make the 100 a better match to a heavy bio load. would the tunze 9410 do that better than the bb 1000?

Did you ever find a pump for your IN-100? I just put a Tunze 9410 on a gen 3 IN-100, and it works great. My tank is 105g plus sump. With the Tunze pump, I think the IN-100 is a good fit size wise. I'm still trying to find the right depth to run it in as the skimmer breaks in. I'm also going to add a gate valve to the output to make it easier to adjust.

no i have not found anything yet. i was emailing jeremy at pa, im starting to consider the super reef octopus limited space saver. its got a 6 inch body and a bb1000. i really think that the in180 would be too much for my system (15 fish planed). ive seen mojo's thread elsewhere stating that an in180 would be good for a heavy 90 but my tank is going to be fish only NOT a heavily stocked reef with heavy fish bioload. i really like the body of the gen 3 in100. if it could be paired with the bb2000 (no fat fingering this time) i think it would really rock. according to the info on the pa site about the bb2000 it has an air draw of 960 l/h.

Hey Coffee,

I have a GEN 2 IN-100 with stock pump in a 110g total system volume (68g display) running bio-pellets with only 4 fish atm.
I'm constantly pulling skimate, was thinking of upgrading to the IN-180 for a heavier bioload.
I would think an IN-180 would be perfect for a 90g tank?

the in180 would save me about 40$ vs the reef octopus i am looking at. at this point the savings are mute, just the desire to get the best skimmer for my system without overkill.

Does anyone know what water level be in100 should sit in the sump at. Mine is new and making a ton of micro bubbles in the tank is that normal during breakin?

So I just got my vertex in-180 I was wondering how high to set the air intake I guess how high do the bubble needa be below the "neck" so I can remove collection cup

Replacement skimmer pump for IN-100

Replacement skimmer pump for IN-100

My stock IN-100 pump die and doesn't start anymore. Not sure if which Gen, got it under a year from Premium Aquatics. It would run for about 2 minutes, then dies. I turn it on half hour later and it would again runs for about 2 minutes then die again.

What about good replacment options, assuming its Gen 1?

Tunze 9410 is a really good fit on my IN-100 gen 3.

Hey guys I just joined the community and the vertex club. I,m the proud owner of a brand new in-180 Gen 3 that I received 4 days ago. I have also already ordered a bb3000 for it that I should receive in 2 days. After skimming through lots of this forum I know thats the way to go. My question is I understand how to mod the pump to the body...BUT...I'm curious to know is there anything else that I have to change or do for this pump to work great. I have read Charlie is in 9.5" of water with great results. I apologize in advance if this has been covered but I just couldn't fine any other info for this mod :D

The stock pump on my Gen 2 in-250 died. Should I go with the bb-3000 or bb-5000? Are there other less expensive pumps that will do the job?

Just got my Alpha 170 and let me say this thing is amazing. Build quality is very nice and I can barely tell its running. Quietest skimmer I've ever owned by far

I have the IN-80, does it matter what configuration the gray PVC is arranged? I have the long piece as the riser to go over a sump wall. Curious if it matters.
