Vince's 210g build

Nice job Vince, it's looking good. I notice 3 holes for the overflow, are you going with the "silent failsafe" design?

Re: the black back - it will absorb light. How much, not sure. Without some sort of backing it won't reflect much either. My guess is either way would be about the same. A white back would be the way to go to maximize light output... or polished aluminum :)

Ryan, all the glass were filed down, so it's pretty safe. It was pretty easy to work with, I just had to be sure that they were really clean before applying the silicone.

Jake, yeah I plan on running the "silent fail safe" design. I ran it on a previous tank, and really like it.

Ok, so for sure I'm painting the back, but still debating between black or blue. Any suggestion or input on this?

Cool. I use a Herbie style design, which is for the most part similar to the SFS design... it's totally silent. You will love it.

I saw a tank once that had a painted back where light blue and dark blue was used to make a transition. It reminded me of one of those Wyland paintings... that was kind of neat. My tank back is blue, one time I tilted my lights up to do some work and it gave the same sort of look. Really neat looking if you can pull it off, made me wish mine was like that... otherwise I'd say go for standard black.

That's sweet! Youre a brave man, I'd be too scared to work with glass.

IMO I'd go with black, it contrasts the bright colors of fish and coral very well. I had dark blue and light blue on previous tanks but ended up with black in the end. But it is all on personal preference :)

I vote for my black I've always painted mine black mostly because it's a good contrast and makes the bright colored corals stand out more although I've always though about using a mirror or polished piece of aluminum just never tried it.. If it ain't broke don't fix it I figure for my bakgrounds-)

Thanks Josh, I actually got the inspiration from your external overflow.

Led is coming along, I've just been sidetrack with everything else. I got 4 strip done, still got 4 to go. Hopefully I can finish the stand and paint the back panel this weekend.

What kind of LEDs are you doing how many LEDs total crees?? I'm still debating on doing them on my 210 so I wanna see how they work out for you are you gonna be keeping sps??

Dan, currently I have 96 cree LED. I have 5 strip that are RbWRbRbWRbRbWRbRbWRb, two strip that is all Royal blue, and one strip that is all White. I am hoping that this is enough, but if not, I can always add a few more strip.

I've been on holiday lazy mode, and now I'm on vacation lazy mode, lol. Finally finish the stand and canopy. Also managed to paint the back panel of the tank. Will be leaving the country for three week, so project will be on hold for a while.

You got mad skills Vince! Wow that is going to be one sweet looking tank! Did you build the stand yourself?

Lookin good!!!! I need to get moving on my 210 now=) Picked up a stand for it but I need to rework a few things on it..

Nothing has been done since the last update. Just got the RODI unit in yesterday. I'm planning to install it today, and start making some good water. Hopefully I can finish up the plumbing by this weekend.
