Vivid Rainbow Delight

A friend of mine has a coral that looks very similar ( it's gorgeous), his does not like high light. he keeps it about 25" away from 400w geisseman 14k halides on the far left where the light is indirect.

I have it. Have had it for about 8 mnths still has not colored up. It is a nice looking coral from top down, that is the reason I bought it.

Here is mine

This looks to be the same as the A. Nasuta variety called Rainbow Nasuta? If so, I've had it for about 6 months (got a frag at a swap), and just noticed it looking good top down the other day. Color seems to be improving from the side view as well not that growth is starting to take off.

really? I've never even seen a pic that looks anything close to the one on their site. And from what I've read this coral is one that really only looks good top down. I assume you saw the mother colony in person?

Agreed. Even in their display tank, the tips are beautiful but the body is just tan and that's under 1000w halides...

I have seen some nicely colored frags in their store but none were colored up all the way through...

I was just at Vivid a couple weeks ago with Sanjay Joshi and I must say, this coral is definitely on of the nicest if not THE nicest acros I have ever seen in person. The top down view is to die for! They do keep that coral high in the tank and it was under a 400 watt Ushio 20K if I recall.

This is my piece from the top down. Several months ago, I tried mounting it perpendicularly and it is now tabling, albeit very slowly. It is approximately 16" from my 400W 14K AquaConnects and has the benefit of very good, random flow.

Some acros fragments need grow a couple of inches to start pop the colors!!

i have a Rommel´s red acro since a year, not color, not tip, not grow!!:mad2:

I got this from the corals description- "It is important to note that the frags of this coral are not as brilliant when they are small. They will color up nicely after 4-8 weeks in your aquarium."

Ivy,
Looks incredible.. took you a long time to get this color?

mike

It always had decent color but the longer I left it alone, the more intense the color became. Right now, we're at the eighth month, same spot.
