Dear friends,

I'm an Italian catholic priest and I have a
"œlittle" problem for which I have decided to address you.

Recently, I bought a used Vortech mp10wES for my aquarium. A co-worker of mine used, in order to clean the exterior of the dry-side housing, a liquid (maybe strongly acid) that ruined it.

I would ask the Ecotech Marine technical support: Please, could you send me - I would pay all costs - a new dry-side housing? I then arrange to mount it and glue it. I would be very grateful to you if you could send it to me!

I await your reply, which I hope positive.

Many Thanks and Best Regards

Sincerely

Gaetano

Is this a joke? Glue what? Catholic Priest are allowed to have reef tanks? And what does being a priest have anything to do with EcoTech sending you equipment? Is this a personal tank in your home? Or the church office? Forgive me (no pun intended) but this post doesn't make sense. What acid? Acid used on what?

Dear friends,

First of all I beg your pardon for my poor English.

My request is simple: cleaning the outside of the dryside, and thinking of doing a good thing, my co-worker used a concentrated solution of hydrochloric acid; Thus, it has ruined the dryside’s housing exterior; the pump works fine, but it is only aesthetically ugly. I was wondering if I could buy only the dryside case (its “outfit") because I don’t want to change the whole dryside, that is too expensive for me.

In any case, many thanks for your attention.

Gaetano

PS: Why should a priest should not have a reef tank? This sentence is very discriminatory ... but I'll take it as a nice joke.

First, my apologies, I was not trying to be discriminatory. When I read your post, much like someone reading a story, I had this image in my head of a reef tank sitting atop of the stage at the front of a church.... or anywhere in the main sanctuary which is something I have never seen or heard of. I assume that the aquarium is in your home. Anyway irrelevant, again my apologies.

Second your English is fine. I did not understand what you meant by "acid" hydrochloric acid is potent stuff. Why would it be used to clean the dry side??

Third, there are no components of the Vortech pumps that require the user to "glue" them. Both dry and wet sides are magnetic and require no gluing or modifications.

Not sure where you are located, but as firefly73 said you can go online and order a new dry side. You can check marine depot.com, bulkreefsupply.com, or ecotech.com, or any specialty aquarium shops in your area. A new MP10 dry side will cost around $106.00 U.S. Not including shipping and handling. I assume the controller is intact and usable? If not you will be better off buying a whole new unit @ $235.00 or $285.00 if you want the wireless version.

I have a spare dryside i can ship you. It is wireless as well. Please private message me contact info and I will ship it to.

@FZ1163: Today I sent you an e-mail; please, let me know if you received it.

I'm not able to directly send messages to members of the Forum, because I haven't yet 10 posts.

Kind Regards

Gaetano
