Vortech MP40QD question for owners

I just purchased a Mp40qd and LOVE it! Question is.....I can still hear it ramp up and down from 10 feet away. Also dry side feels warm to touch...I have adjusted wetside, have correct spacer. Will it quiet down after a few weeks? Wanted to check woth you guys. Thanks!

I can hear aggressive ramps on mine, such as when on short pulse or NTM. Other modes like lagoon are much more quiet. The dry sides on my QD and both WES upgraded with QD drivers all run warm, but it is a pleasant warm and not something I would consider hot.

Thanks breadman.....mine is uncomfortably hot, not warm. I'm going to call ecotech for replacement. The noise and heat arent normal in my opinion. I have owned several vortechs and to be honest, this quiet drive sounds the same as my other vortechs. The whole point of purchasing these was to NOT hear the ramping sounds from 10 feet away. I hear all ramping from 30-60 percent sitting at the table. Its annoying! Thanks again for answering!

I can hear pulse ramps in my QD60 from 10 feet, but not the QD40. None of mine get hot and I found the QD models to be dramatically quieter than my older ones.

My 40 QD dry side is barely warm, let alone hot. It's running around 50% right now and I just went to feel it to make sure I wasn't crazy when I thought I'd never recalled it getting more than warm, no matter what speed I've run it at. You're definitely right to contact them about it being hot, since that's very not normal. Regarding noise, the QD definitely has a break-in period. I owned the previous generation and didn't remember it being loud at first, but after turning on the QD the first time, it was very loud. Within a few days, it had slowly gotten down to not being audible over the other noises of my tank. It's definitely nothing like the ES--that had an audible whine at high speeds to my ear, and no matter what speed I run, I can barely hear the QD at 100% when I'm right next to it now that it's broken in for a few weeks.
