I have a 90g that has been up and runnin for 8/9 months. Its a mixed reef with 2 clowns, Banghaii, Flame Angel, 3 blue Chromis, lawnmower.
What next...another angel, Anthias.....?

id go with wrasses. but im partial. anthias arent for me. but maybe they are for you sir.
I am by no means a sir...though at 40 I am aspiring to be one one day. Never had Anthias and have yet to hear great stuff about them. What kind of wrasse do you recommend?...can you have several species?

Def following this... Doing the whole wrasse/anthia dance for my own 90. I do hear good things about the melanarus wrasse and yellow coris wrasse. Friend had them both in a 40 BB... I will atlanta have some sand lol.

I would go with wrasses, fairy or flasher, personally. I have a pair(in the process of bonding now) of Vanuatu pylei fairy wrasses. They look really nice IMO. They are spendier though, but well worth it so far. Reefjunkie told me how his male would display trying to force a spawn and I am thinking that would be cool to see in person! Just a warning though, pylei fairies can be aggressive towards other wrasses. I can't say what my favorites are though because these are my first fairy wrasses(second species of fish that I have kept).

I have a melanurus wrasse (also called hoevens) in my 90. He cleaned up all the flat worms and nudis, and has a great personality. Beautiful fish too!

Sunburst anthias are gorgeous.

I think wrasse behavior is much more interesting than anthias.

I actually think the opposite. Keeping multiples of the same wrasse species hasn't worked out for me (and from what I read on here, for many others) and keeping multiples of different species is fine, but they don't interact much. My lyretails interact well, and spawn regularly. And even after many years, they don't all turn male on you :D

I'm kinda partial to this, and you have the chromis already, which IME tend to group tight w/ my anthias and the mix of blue/green and orange looks wonderful.

I'd go with anthias, especially if you're tank is not tightly covered.

I have lyretail and bartlett's, but sunburst's and some of the the others would be good as well.

Beautiful fish there. If you care, I believe anthia is the plural and anthias is singular. Could be wrong. You sound like someone who would care. I hope your fish does well.

Sunburst are one of my faves! Got two in my 60g cube in my room, they get along great with the solar wrasse! In my 185g DT, I've got 1 male & 2 female lyretails, 1 male &4 female bartletts, 2 borbonius (awesome fish), with a pair of flame wrasse, and a flasher. Gives the tank a lot of color! They all get along well!
