Wall hammer - night and day

Here's a couple pictures I captured of both night and day. :)
That yellow tang is about 3 1/2 inches big.

I've been on the fence with cutting this guy up, but once in a while I really enjoy it! Hope everyone else enjoys it too!

Thanks everyone!

I've had it for maybe 5 years? Not exactly sure. It's a quarter of the original. The original was in the shape of an X with the intersection dead in the center of it, so I broke it into halves and quarters. This is a quarter of what's left. It's grown into the shape of the rock it's on. It's about 2.5 years in the same place to grow that shape. Original skeleton was about 7 or 8 inches total. I don't remember really. It takes up so much space now is the reason I always have cutting on the mind when I look at it. I just have a hard time doing it because I've had it so long, and it's so easy to keep. Coloration doesn't look like anything special, just the size of it looks cool. I have pretty high flow in my tank, but this coral really likes lower flow. It gets pretty long and puffed up in lower flow, but hasn't had low flow in some time. It stays pretty compact most of the time because of the flow.

I'll look for a before picture, but I'm not sure I'll find one. If I do, I'll post it. I've got one, but finding one may be hard.

Here's one from a few years ago. Title on the pic said 8-10" hammer. It's changed alot.

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments.

Yes, I've thought about selling the frags, when I cut it up. I will sell it most likely on the CMAS forum locally if I do - not here. I sold a couple pieces on there a couple years ago.

I have a wall hammer also in my 120 and it's amazing how fast they grow. I had to frag mine last summer because it was taking over almost 1/2 of my tank, and it was killing anything within 4". I fragged off about seven 5" to 6" pieces and sold them. Since I fragged it, it has almost returned to it's previous size. I plan to frag this again in the spring.

Here is a picture I took today of my wall hammer. The other photo shows 1 of the frags that I cut off of it last summer. I cut 7 of these frags from this hammer and it has almost returned to the size before I cut it. I was a little leery of cutting it at first as I didn't want it to die, but all the frags and the parent recovered in no time.

Thanks Taylor, they are very similar. I think you'll find that you will need to frag it at some point, otherwise it will take over your tank. Mine has sweeper tentacles that reach about 6", I'm betting yours does also. It started killing a Horn Coral when I decided that I needed to frag it.
