SERVO, I just wanted to say that it is an awesome shot, but I can't take credit for it. As stated someone else on RC took the picture, but I can't remember who it was.

I think it was GHO who took the pic.

clkwrk....don't treat, see how lohg things stay that way!

Ha ha bet you don't even know how long I have had them . I also would say you would enjoy my tank and if you were able to see it in person you would question the red bug mess.....

Also I would think I have pretty close to the most personal experience with these buggers and what they can or can't do ....Unlike most who treated as soon as they seen them .

That treatment document is outdated. Redbugs have no egg stage as was previously believed, and give live birth to young that are just as succeptible to interceptor as the adults. If the initial treatment is done properly, it WILL kill all of them. There is no reason to do 3 treatments if you do it correectly.

I can tell you your corals will be much happier without them. they will live, and the longer polyp sps will maybe even thrive. but they will be much happier without the bugs

with all due respect has anyone else concurred with this statement? I havent seen this stated before. I have seen stated instances where the bugs return after 1 treatment but not after 3. Also, I have never seen documentation that the bugs have no egg laying stage.. Im curious about this one

I couldn't agree more!

The "Treatment" is TOUGH on the Pod population! But it's well worth having great color and ployp extension!

Listen well to these reefers advice, as well as others like them! They are speaking truth on this matter! I concur 100%!

Yes you can live with red bugs...heck I lived with them for over 2 years!!!! Still had a awsome set of tanks....kept the philosphy that...well they don't look like they are hurting anything...so heck why do the hassle of interceptor treatment....well my false philosophy fadded over the course of 2 years....colony's faded...lost good PE...colonys starting dying..very slowly (everything with red bugs is very slow to wrath)...

I am now 100% bug free have been for awhile! I would never send out frags with these buggers on them....Better color and PE than ever!....

Trust me and our camp of red bug free reefers....please do yourselves and your awsome acros a favor and dose interceptor...you won't ever regret it! But your shrimp, emeralds, and hermits might!...LOL....

For the record I never treated my main tank...used a Q-tank with well over 100 acros...left the main tanks bare of ALL acros for 8 days....only requires 5 days baren to kill remaining parasites..

I'm all out.....

Not to mention, you will NOT be very popular in the reef community if you send a Red Bug INFESTED frag to a reef buddy! I was LIVID when this happened to me! NOW, because of this kind of thinking, I treat every frag I get in Interceptor for 3 hours BEFORE it goes in my tank! Kinda like giving a man's daughter an STD! NOT COOL!

Poksnok, its common knowledge at this point. Go back to all the interceptor threads. They all come to this conclusion. The problem is, most people either under treat, or they do carbon treatments too early etc. Its also tough to kill anything in a tank, because if something is in an area with low flow, it doesnt get much of the drug.

The CAN be killed in 1 treatment. Thats the reason dips work. If they couldnt be, all the dipping in the world would be useless.

Very good! Good husbandry....we all love to trade frags...heck thats how most of us got started...I love trading frags with anybody anytime...(hint hint..just pm)...but many reefers some innocent not knowing better, have sent many a buddy red bugs...thats how I got em..probably even give em away unknowingly....but now I know better....nobody gets red bug frags from Doc....just not polite to do to reefer friends...we are all learning from oneanother...thats the great thing about this forum..we can all learn lessons the easy way, from reefers who learned them that hard way....

But I interceptor dip for 6 hours....no matter how strong the dose...it really takes up to 5 hours to kill the most physically fit red bugs.... I've nuked them in 10 times the dosage before...they still hung on alive , not dead yet for several hours....

My very first post on this thread has a picture of one of my corals days before I did my treatment. That is just a small section of the entire picture. Now 2.5 weeks later I am getting good growth again on the tips and the color has improved a bit. If anyone wants to see the difference I can post pics. Just let me know.

Oh far more surprises in store for you Reefer Ralistan!

Its all uphill now since being released of the red bug bondage!

RickConley. It is my understanding that the Interceptor kills the live bugs in a dip. Since the "clean" frag has had the live bugs killed, and the water is NOT introduced into the tank. that there are no bugs present to reproduce. When treating a tank....larvae could hatch and survive one treatment. I did NOT enjoy the three treatments, the 25% water changes, and carbon treatments, but it was worth it to know that I was doing EVERYTHING humanly possible to provide the VERY BEST care I could to my charges. I take this responsibility very seriously! But, I'm a 50 year old Grandfather and Father. I got used to doing things that way!

I have yet to see one PIC of a red bug doing harm to a SPS. I dont sell my coral at this time but if I do I would be sure to treat to keep the pros happy. To Many times in this hobby people say OMG Kill it it is bad!!! Look at Bristle worms a few years ago now every one says keep them they are good!!!! I still say in my tank and many others I have seen red bugs have not caused a problem and in all my searches on RC I am yet again to see one bit of proof that they are eating any thing on the coral. Maby there was somthing in the water causeing the pore PE/color. Just my 2 cents.
