Wanted: Gorgs in colors other than purple

Yup, I'm addicted to these things. I've already got two different purples (one being a blade version) and also have some of Gary's gorg. Looking for other colors that may be fraggable in the area.

I'll be at the Gates-Chili HS open house tomorrow evening, at the ARC swap Saturday and live in the Rochester area. Figured I should check with everyone here before I resort to ordering from another state. :)

I know there are one or two lurkers with awesome gorg tanks locally so hopefully they see this thread. I can't remember their names though.

I'm a huge fan of gorgs so eager to see what you guys end up with!

I have some brown/goldish ones(look like Eunicea mammosa) I got a couple years ago at ABC Reefs grand opening from someone there.

They are nothing special except somehow two of them started growing on a rock right between all my euphyllia and I want to move/frag them. Anyone have any tips on fragging? And if either of you want one let me know I would be willing to trade, etc.

Love the candelabra shape those grow in to. :) Gorg fragging tips... I haven't done this yet but here's what I know others have done. Cut off the piece you are fragging, scrape some of the skin off the branch at the bottom, glue and position on piece of rock. All the gorgs frags I picked up so far were done that way and they seemed to encrust over the glue pretty quickly.

Not to steal the thread, but........are gorgs easy to care for relatively speaking? I love the height they create in the tanks that I have seen with them in.

Mel, i've got my puffy pink gorg, glad to take a branch off for ya. Gave one to Lizz, she said it's growing fast.

I have the purple and the other pictured. I've never seen any of the others. I'm imagining they look identical with the exception of when they are closed. -Could definitely be wrong though.

I'm with you on the gorg thing, I love them.

Do a search for blue berry gorgs, I saw someone on RC selling frags not to long ago. Cant remember where though :(

I've seen the blueberry one...I believe Jedi has/had one in his DT. Great looking and the color was awesome...got to find me one of those...

One reason that a blueberry gorg isn't on my list, it's not photosynthetic and my tank is not designed to deal with the waste from the feeding it would require to thrive.

"Because the blueberry gorgonian resides in the deep waters and is not a photosynthetic coral, its diet consists completely of trapped organisms that pass through in the ocean currents. This attribute makes the blueberry gorgonian very difficult to maintain in a reef tank, and frustrates and deters many hobbyists from acquiring these corals. In an aquarium, the blueberry gorgonian has to be given special attention and frequent feedings (it will perish without eating often)"

If your setup is designed to cope with heavy feedings... might be worth a try. I'd consider it if I had a more robust skimmer and was willing to do water changes more often than every two - three weeks. ;)

"Blueberry gorgonian feedings should take place very often and consist of a variety of micro organisms, including frozen baby brine shrimp, phyto plankton, marine snow or other recommended foods."
