Warranty information on Tunze pump

Let me start out by saying I own many Tunze pumps and I love them. However, I just had a Tunze 6060 stream completely die on me after less than 1.5 years. I am trying to make sense of the warranty information in the booklet that came with the pump, but I am lost.

I've had the pump less than 2 years, so I am still within warranty period. But I can't seem to figure out where to send this thing to get it fixed. When I say its dead, I mean dead. The internal motor is not running, I can tell. at first I thought maybe the impeller was the problem but that isn't it. There isn't a bit of vibration at all, so it is basically not even turning on.

Please help with some info. I would like to get this sent off to get fixed or replaced. As it stands, I had to buy one of the new Stream 2's to replace the Stream 6060, since I can't be without the needed flow. But I am unwilling to just chock this up as a loss given that the pump is still a recent purchase, was cleaned and maintained regularly, never ran on a wavemaker, treated in tiptop way and now it is dead.

Yeah, I cleaned it about a month ago, and then cleaned it again when I noticed it had stopped working. It is clearly not the impeller, the sealed motor inside the pump is not running, there is no vibration whatsoever, as compared to the slight vibration you can feel with the other pump of the same model.

I can't find any date on the pump or the box, where at? I don't have a receipt anymore, I bought the pump a year and a half ago in July 2008. In fact I actually bought the pump at Salty Critter in Vermillion. I am going to be ****ed if Tunze won't honor my warranty without a receipt, I'm sure I threw that away a few days after I bought the pump. But I am sure that I bough the pump in July 2008 when I bought my new tank. Salty Critter was clearing out the last of the old Tunze streams and the 6060 was marked down to $125. In fact I think I bought the last two that were in stock.

Without a receipt, all I have to go on is the manufacture date. I am sorry, but that is the only way we can determine warranty without a receipt. If it is within reason, say the pumps were made a couple months past 2 years, I am willing to let it slide and take your word on it. Worst case scenario, you are not looking at more than $50 to repair the pump.

Where is the manufacture date on the pump? I looked at it and can't find a date anywhere on it. nor can I find one on the box it came on. Perhaps, I can find some other documentation besides a receipt, I may be able to print a copy of the charge from the store where I bought it, although that wouldn't list the actual items purchased, it would at least show the date. Satly Critter should be able to confirm when they stopped selling the old streams, because I think I bought the very last ones they had at the time before they switched to the new models.

On the back of the pump between the label and the hole of the swivel arm that mounts the pump are three digits stamped into the plastic, these decode as series, quarter, year, so 218 for example is the 2nd series of the 1st quarter of 2008, a production series typically is 2 weeks so I 218 pump would be from about early February 2008 as the factory doesn't begin production until the 2nd week of January. On more recent pumps we now use 4 digits as week of the year and year. But, the 6060 would definitely have a 3 digit code.

okay, mine says 137, so without a reciept I'm out of warranty? blugh...I have no idea how to track down a receipt for this thing

Please, just send it in, since the factory is closed in August and the date points to a July production we can assume it was recieved here in mid August after shipping in July and the dealer probably got it in September or October, I am not an unreasonable man.

Will do and I appreciate. Like I said, it is definately still in the warranty period, I just didn't think to keep the receipt because Tunze pumps are generally reliable and I have never had occassion to have to return the pump.

Great customer service here...its part of the reason why I keep buying Tunze pumps. That, and the fact that they are hands down the best pumps on the market.

Thanks.
