so this is what i have so far....having the dart understand is way too much work and do not have much space....i think i will save that room for another pump or something....some pictures of my "plumbing area" and set up.

PAULIE GET IT TOGETHER, IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR FALLING APART:lol:

No joking I think you're doing a great job. Your not rushing the build.

looks nice so far!!! I'm glad you are still hanging in there with the closed loop.
closed loops are really a PITA to plumb. my tank had all sorts of closed loop plumbing and such (2 closed loops, one with dart and om4way, and one with iwaki and 2x seaswirls) but in the end I ended up not doing any closed loop at all. lol.
keep up the good work, I wish I wasn't so lazy and get my butt up to do some work on my tank. lol!!!

yeah i was just about to give another update...silicone is still not dry...its tacky...so i dunno, but i am almost done clue the pvc and all for the closed loop....the smell really messed me up though so i had to take a break...once you get started its not so hard just gotta get the pattern going. I am glad for that at least....going to run the CL for about 24 hours to test it when its time.

 I didn't think much about it at the time, but the smell of the pvc glue actually made me high!!!

well i finished plumbing and glued it all...and was filling it and the bottom left bulk head had a slowish drip....well a good amount of drip to it.....so i then drain 15 or so gallons out and realized i only hand tighten the bulk heads so it might just not have been tight enough so i used my wrench on all of them and turn it about a half turn more. the other one on the right side, same level was perfect so i am concerned....the glass does have a small chip where it was drilled...like nothing huge at all...so i am thinking thats the problem....any ideas how to fix it...i was thinking some sort of glue or black paste to go around it on the inside and maybe the outside also....so i am about to pass out now after messing with the tank ALLL night...more tomorrow--i hope the vortech will be in soon

use a gas mask dude!!! seriously!! I used a dust mask (cheap white one) and I used two big fans with all the windows in the living room open... that helped out a little bit.

use silicon on the inside of the bulkheads (inside tank), that should stop any leak you may have.

Never use a wrench to tighten bulkheads. They should all be hand-tightened. I recommend you loosen them immediately and retighten by hand before the glass cracks.

well i can too lol...but i am over the plumbing....i am seriously just thinking about ordering another vortech and selling the dart....only thing that would suck would be that i would love a few bucks in the plumbing parts but i don't care....what do you all think....i would get plenty of flow with 2 vortech and can change it up and i can't do that with the dart....i think before i knew about them i thought the dart was the was to go. Now that i see all the things that can leak and go wrong it worries me because the tank is in my living room, hard wood floors and all. I would keep the holes and i guess just connect them and make it a hiding spot for some critters. its late so i am going to think it over but would like to hear what you all think. i do not want any other kinda of power head because i hate wires so another vortech or keep the dart?

ohh and i was going to take a picture of the tank with the dart running but my battery died....i have to say, it is a VERY quiet pump, my skimmer is louder then it, but seeing videos on you tube of tanks with 2 vortech looks like lots more flow they i got from the dart.

well i slept on it and had a better day and drained the take and check for leaks and used marine expoxy on some of the pvc...and it did the trick....dart is running now, nicely and again verrrrrry quiet.....still messing with how i want the flow directed but thats fun for me. I also recieved my vortech today!!! It is very nice, still trying to learn how to make a wave....maybe a 110 is too big for 1 vortech to make a way, but i did see a bit of it.....still think i just need to play around with the controller more....some pictures...again verryyy tired and camera did not charge last night so sorry for the bad pictures...but here are some....again i am sure this post is full of errors i am falling alseep as i type......zzzzzzzz

i was surprised at how much pressure my hose had...took a few mins to fill..
DSCN1545.jpg

that T is the only place it leaks now, but it is verrrrrry slow...i used a nice amount of epoxy on it but still seems to drip, going to run it over night tonight and drain it again in the am.

blurry...don't know how to use this camera...better pictures later...oh and i forgot to use my Navy boat to test the flow!!

DSCN1556.jpg

i kept the little mess thing on there for now and will for a few more days...little bits of stuff the stuff i used to seal the dart are in the tank....got most of them out with my net, but do not want anything on my pretty vortech lol

DSCN1557.jpg

video to come later after i get the wave thing going if it works....also going to paint the back black....and paint the 1inch 45s you see in the tank directing flow, and messing around with my return line tomorrow.

thanks for looking,

-matt

draining it now...going to fix a small leak, and will run the it half full, and take some pictures and a video....i stayed up tooo late messing with the controller on the vortech and i was able to get a little way, but i like the reef crest mood but might have to do the lagoon mode till i get some sps....but i had it on full power the entire time and all modes...i think the manual said do that or something for the first 24 hours....i love how broad the flow is and how water pulls in around it....i have little pieces of teflon paste in the tank so i am trying to get that out....so the screen is staying on the vortech for now....just like to be over protective.

more real soon
