Was this cruel?

I discovered a tiny (1cm) crab in my newly bought sun coral whilst in QT. So since I was not sure whether it might grow into a huge fish eating monster, I removed him and added him to my small refugium under the QT, where I have a Pearl Goby.

Well, before the poor crab hit the substrate it was swallowed whole by the goby. I really did not think that small goby would eat him...

It was kind, from the goby's POV. He thought you'd brought lunch---but you couldn't predict that.

It's what goes on in the reef. All those little frozen copepods in cyclopeeze were once live little copepods, alas. It's kind of why I favor buying live pods: at least when I dump 'em in, it's into heavy, complex rock, and they have a fair chance to breed and live one step ahead of my fishes.
