anyone have any experience with these.they sell for $299 which is cheaper than the tunze but a lot bigger in size.im looking for a wavemaker for my 125g.i dont want a huge wave as my waterline is 3/4" below rim.

i want to keep particles in suspension to export,im tired of detritus being accumilated within live rock,as well as for the corals.

ive read the DIY tunze wavebox and it looks great but im still confused as to which is better,DIY tunze, tunze or wave2k.

I can't compare the two, but I will give a huge thumbs up to the Tunze wavebox.. I saw it in action on a local reefer's 180 and it was absolutely amazing. The guy couldn't say enough good things about it.

I just bought a used tunze wavebox, I have not got it yet but a friend of mine has one and told me once you have one you will never go without. I bought it for the same reason as you, I want to keep particles in suspension and cant really blast my rocks as I have a mix of sps and lps. From other stuff I read the tunze is superior to the wave2k, another thing to think about is the tunze is controllable so you should be able to adjust the wave to the 3/4" you have avialable. Hope this helps, I should have mine monday, I will check back with the post and if you have not bought one I will let ya know what I think, I am putting is on a 240g.

thanks guys.ive heard great news abot the tunze and not much on wave2k.i guess ill have to save up and either do a DIY or try and find a used one locally.

thanks again,Mark

Hey Mark, Ive had the Wave 2k and I probably wouldnt go with it again unless I had an outdoor tank. It works very well, moving tons of water in a back n forth manner, however, it tends to splask water a little and needs about 6" of space off the wall of the tank to make room for the motor/pulley system that runs it. This would be the ultimate wave maker if they could redesign the motor to be top-mounted and a little more quiet.
I currently am using the Sure Flow 1600 Maxi-jet mod kits on a maxi-jet 900 and they work great!! The Tunzes are the best but at a price.
Hope this helps,
Michael

thanks again guys.ive actually spent some of my $ on some corals i couldnt pass up(c'mon youve been there).so the wavebox is on hold

i still have 5 MJ1200's to use on a RS wavemaster so this will have to work for now

thanks again,Mark

mod a couple of the maxijets with some cheap sureflow mods otherwise that's not enough flow for a tank that size IMO.

I realy liked my wave2k. And if you get if you spend 20.00 you can get the side mount so the motor does not stick out the back. If it would have worked on my new tank with the euro bracing I will still be using it instead of it collect dust in my basement.

the mods arent good for them being on wavemakers, ive done it before and they just couldnt handle it

Run two on all the time and the other three on the wavemaker, nothing wrong with just turning them on and leaving.

that's a great idea: have 2 Modded MJ's on all the time, and 3 w/ the wavemaker function.

You think a modded MJ 900 will be too much flow in a 30 cube?

that sounds like a good idea.i will unplug them at night tho.ive found that my corals love the calmness at night.

thanks again,Mark

Actually at night they need the flow just as much as in the day, the ocean does not calm down because the sun sets, ph lowers at night anyway turning off the two biggest pumps will compound that.

i was always in the belief, from reading calfo and bornemans books that at night they retract polyps for the most part.and if retracted they arent feeding

and from diving in the keys both day and night the reefs are calmer at night.still flowing but calmer
