Wave Box 6212

NEED ONE......Simon, it's prolly 2cm each direction hence looks like a 4cm total which is prolly consistent w/that video.

The video looks awesome but are there any structual issues with that type of water movement againts the tank and stand? That amount of movement looks like it could cause some poorly desinged tanks/stands to fail. I wonder if you could slow the interval down so it's not so quick back and forth.

Most people will also have to lower their water level to accomodate the wave height.

Tunze is definitely the innovator.

for the overflow problem, could it be that you will need one central overflow, so meaning a consistent flow to it, or with 2 overflows each end oth the tank then having the height of the overflows he height of the wave at its lowest.

I need one of these babies, although I also can't afford it, but maybe I can sell one of my kidneys... you only need one right? Hehe. Anyways, I think that you should be able to dial in a range of different frequencies with this wavemaker, since if you couldn't, it wouldn't work on such a large variety of tanks. I think the controller may give you dynamic automation of the waves in your tank... possibly being able to change the frequency a couple of times in a day. That would be so awesome.

I really like the fact that the wavelike action will blow off the crap that collects on the liverock from fish, snails, etc.

Peace,
John H.

You can change frequency and wave height with the controller. There will be no retrofit for existing streams because the high speed cycling required too many changes to make it feasible or cost effective- basically the drive unit is new the pump is a hybrid between a 6100 and 6200 and only the new electronics can handle the abuse of quick cycling long term. I will conduct some tests with US tanks in the next month so I will be better able to answer the overflow question later.

A Must Have!

A Must Have!

I can honestly say it has been a long time since this reefer has seen anything on the hardware side this exciting. I love my Tunze turbelles, streams, skimmer and now the wavebox! I want in on this and will set up a new system just for this device, so put me on the list. I will be ordering it from my buddy Jeff at Exoticfish so keep us both in the loop.
Cheers,
Francesca

Whoa, that video is making me seasick:D

How can that little box make the tank move like that?! It looks like magic. I can't wait to see that box in action on a local tank.

How about those of us with larger tanks? Can we use 2 or 3 together? Or is their a unit for larger systems comming?

Expensive? OUCH! TUNZE however make some good stuff, the price would not put me off, as long as it worked (and kept working forever).

Yes, the 6212.5 exstention box.

Ohh after seeing the video I am drooling all over myself. Roger, when can we get our hands on these?

I ordered 100 units but likely will only get 20 or so on the first shipment, production will start next week but release is dependant on packaging, manual and getting enough prepared to send out. It is a bit complicated so the manual is critical.

Here are some pics- for the videos I will wait until I get home and have more crunching power than my laptop offers. The controller photo is bad but you can see a master/slave cable. Inside are some jumpers and you can set the slave to run an extension box or to connect to the multicontroller and then it will turn off in night mode.

send me one minus the box and the manual LOL sure i can figure it out!!

Put me down as a beta customer, dam I will drive to Germany to pick one up!

Very clever bit of kit, neat idea.

So how was Germnay and any good stories, after all German beer is strong:)

Hi Roger,

Is the frequency and wave height in the movie that was posted at maximum? If so, then can you give us some idea of what frequency would be like at the minumum setting?
Thanks,
Steve

If you need any testers ... sign me up :) It's an amazing product - looking forward to seeing one at IMAC [I hope]

Thanks for all the info Roger, get some sleep!

I am still in Germany. I have a cold now so I am a bit bed ridden. I work a bit and lay down and answer emails. Plastic glue is pretty harsh with a cold. The movie is at maximum and the tank is 2m long (7ft) so the wave is about 3/4" inch high- maybe 1.5-2" from crest to trough. If it is tuned completely wrong nothing happens or just non sensical chaos that makes no movement. You can tune a big tank for two small waves and you can lower the pump velocity on the driver for a control as well. I will be back next Monday. As for stories- I showed everybody how to slam shots only with absinthe which was a big mistake. I saw Habib. I spoke with Dieter Brockman and Julian Sprung for sometime. I met lots of cute German girls ;)

Looks like an amazing product.

I have a question regarding the effect of the wave motion movement of large volumes of water on the tanks seal. Could the silicone seals be weakend by such movement of water?
If you look at it another way; such motion of water will cause uneven distribution of water which could have a weakening effect on tank overall? Ie greatest varying pressure would be exerted on the sides of the tank. Could this have any detrimental effect on the tanks structure?

I offer these questions which I believe are important and in no way mean to offend the vendor or the idea/concept. :)
