Wavebox 6212 questions

Hi,
I just acquired a used 6212 Wavebox with controller, magnet mounts, etc, from a friend. I am wondering if you can advise me as to best placement in my aquarium? I am planning to install this into my Marineland 200 gallon deep dimension SPS reef tank. Dimensions are 48x36x27. Currently, I have a Vortech MP40 on the upper left side blowing left to right, and an old Stream pump 6080 on the right side, upper back blowing right to left. I am open to moving / removing either of these 2 to make best use of the Wavebox.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Tony

You will want to continue using the other pumps. The wavebox creates a rocking, non linear flow, the kind you sea at the beach where any sand you stir up rocks back and forth and slowly falls almost right back where it was. This lifts and suspends and due to some percussion gets flow to otherwise almost impenetrable areas like the sand bed and behind rock. You still need a linear current to carry stuff away to the filter/overflow. I would place the wavebox on one side at least 6" in from either corner, it should have a relatively unobstructed shot at the far end. Just make sure another pump is not blowing directly into the wavebox outlet.
