Roger,

Hope you are keeping well. I've not posted for a while but regularly visit the forum. I upgraded my tank last year and now planning yet another upgrade. I wanted the new tank to have very little equipment in the way of pumps etc inside so thought about just a wavebox for flow withiin the tank.

Would a wavebox operate ok in a 48(l)x24(w)x17(h) tank - its a fairly shallow tank and I am concerned that wave action may be too much. Unfortunately, I cannot get much in the way of info from UK distributor on this Q but I know that shallow tank are much more popular in teh uS and so I'm hoping you may be able to help.

If this cannot work then my fall back will be a 6100 on controller and two 6045's

If there any guys with a shallow tank usinga wavebox please share your experience / advice.

Cheers Roger

Roshan,

The wavebox alone will not create enough flow, you will probably get a 1" wave and the flow will just be a rocking motion withour direction. The wavebox and a couple 6045's though would probably work well.

Thanks Roger. So if the wavebox will probably create a 1" wave in the yank dimensions I have noted I guess I would have to ensure the water line is at least 1" below the top of the tank? Is that correct ?

I already have the 2 x 6045's so if the wavebox was on the left hand side pane and the 2 x 6045 on the right side pane - would be ok. I keep a sps only tank so just want to ensure this would be enough flow. If it not gonna be enough I'll have to go back to streams only.

Sorry for the q's - help and advice ,uch appreciated.

Roshan
