Wavemakers off at night or 24/7??

So ive been debating with myself whether to turn my wavemakers off at night or not.

Ive read that especially with SPS corals, they need the night time to 'recover' or relax from getting pushed around during the day, and that more importantly, getting the same flow constant 24/7 can cause weird growth patterns.

How does everyone feel about this?? I feel like if you have a legit wave maker, then the whole weird growth pattern shouldnt apply, simply bc the wave makers dont just blow the polyps in one direction like a bunch of powerheads would, it creates a back and forth motion, which should create more balance.

Though my wavemaker, the Jebaeo RW8's synced together, does come with a night setting, I prefer to keep it off bc the pumps dont shut off at night, they just blow a constant flow and it pushes too much sand around in my tank. However, I dont want my SPS corals to start growing in an odd fashion, especially my monti.

So Im not sure which direction to go, Ive thought about hooking the wave makers up to a timer instead of using the night setting, that way the controller completely shuts off, but then Id have to resync them up in the morning and that would be a nuisance and I obviously dont want to go through all this trouble if I dont have to.

The way that i see it is the ocean currents do not slow down at night. So I keep a constant random flow.

This is a thread that keeps popping up every couple of weeks. There's no right answer.

It's like making a thread about which is better, coke or Pepsi?

The only thing I leave running at night is the return pump. Everything has been doing well for years; and all the little critters get to come out at night and clean up that would otherwise get blown away with the big pumps turned on.

24 years all pumps on at night

24 years all pumps on at night

and I don't think it's caused the death of a single critter.....

that's with Iwaki100RLT main pump + educator capped returns + two vortechs creating massive alternating gyres

no freaky coral growth, either....
