We have babies (Onyx Percula that is)

I did a lot of maintenance and water change today.

Onyx PHD #33The Onyx babies looks good and growing well. Just a quick snap of the clowns.

SnowOnyx PHD 11, only 7 survided all doing well and seem to be very aggressive, even more so than my Onyx. They really fight each other. In a few more days when I get them to eat Otohime A, I will add them to the larger Onyx group. Only 7 in this group all have head band and finish with Meta. They (all 7) seem dark, even darker than my Onyx. I was not able to get a good picture of this group due to there are so few and where the tank is.

Onyx PHD #6 doing well. All eating very well, about 35+ of these guys

SnowOnyx PHD #2 doing great a few died here and there but great majority seem to be doing well. Over 200 of these guys

Nothing new to report except my SnowdOnyx at PHD 16, started to have the second band while my Onyx at PHD 39 none have 2nd band.
My Snowflake and Onyx pair decided to lay their egg on the rock at the foot of the Gigatnea so no baby this week. I will put a bunch of rock there to block the next spawn to force them back to the tile, (I hope they won't choose the glass)

I find that a 5 g tank and a 2.5 gal tank to raise rotifer can only raise enough rotifer for a large batch every 2 weeks or so. I have decided to raise every other patch only. Yesterday the pair lay a huge nest, the largest so far. will be trying to hatch there next Tuesday. I just ordered 2 liter bag rotigrowth plus, but one of the two backs sprung a leak in transport. Reed Aquaculture was good enough to resend one of the bag for me.

Have you ever put an anemone in the tank with the fry to see if they acclimate quicker for 'tank raised' clowns compared to the natural ones?

They are growing well. The largest are 3/4 inch. My rotifer culture crash with the last patch at about 10 days. Not fully convert to Oto A yet, so there are going to be a fe death on this last patch but I have too many babies as is. I think I will stop trying to hatch anymore until I do something with the ones I have right now.
The Onyx start to have their second stripes while the older SnowOnyx having third stripes. A lot of the SnowOnyx have a lot of white/helmet first stripes. The SnowOnyx have deeper body than the Onyx. Even having them mix up it is reasonably easy to tell them apart.

Is the Snow part of the SnowOnxy a Percula or Occelaris? The reason I ask is that percula's are the ugly duck that turns into a swan, by this I mean they take a long time to get all their stripes and the nice black coloration they are know for. In comparison the occelaris mature much faster and achieve adult coloration much sooner.

Wondering if the SnowOnxy have some occelaris in them causing them to develop quicker.

Either way, great job with these babies!!

Snowflakes are Ocellaris. I agree that Ocellaris bloom much earlier than Percula. My Percullaris will beautiful early and will be even more beautiful as they grow

Here are a few of my pictures from tonight. I have quite a few beautiful SnowOnyx. Some nice Onyx also but the way I have it set up, it is difficult to take pictures of the Onyx. A lot of extra white in my Snowonyx.

As oon as I start the babies on Otohime A I put some macro algae in the tank and some live rock for them to grow on. The Algae take up all the Amonia. I feed the babies heavy but have no problem with ammonia. I change the water every week or two. When I do I change 80% plus of the water. So far so good. No problem with stress due to water change. The water I use is of same salinity and heated to 80 degree.

The two pictures below show all 5 of my tanks that I use to raise clowns. This weekend I will consolidate all my larger babies into a 45 g cube tank instead of 10 and 5 gal tanks. That will be about 300 babies together in the 45 g tank.

I have been so busy and not able to update much. Right now I got about 500+ babies with only about 80 Onyx the rest SnowOnyx due to my female of the Onyx pair jumped a few months back. The largest is short of 1 inch.
Right now I got most 300+ in a 60 gal cube and two smaller tanks each have about 100 of the younger SnowOnyx in it.
Here is a picture of the large fry tanks. I never home until after dark so I don't get to take picture other than with the PC light. The pictures are blurry but you guys and gals get the idea. These pictures were taken about 10 minutes ago
