We have babies (Onyx Percula that is)

There are some very nice SnowOnyx with a lot of whites and a few nice Onyx with darken colors. The SnowOnyx developed much faster than the Onyx. Only a few on the Onyx start to have the second stripes at near 1 inch while most of the SnowOnyx have full 3 stripes at 3/4 inch.

I finally got some pictures that can give details of the fish.

This is the picture of my best Onyx, I got about 5 of this color and shape and darkness. It is taken with high ISO (3200) so is a bid grainy under florescent light but due to the low light, there is not a whole lot I can do about it. The first picture is unedited other than re-size. The color on my monitor is a lot lighter than the color in real life so I use Photoshop to automatically correct the color of the rest of the pictures, included an edited version of this picture so you guys and gals can judge what kind of color correction was done. The edited color give true color of the fish in my judgment. The babies have a clear fin borders that cannot be seen in the pictures

The group picture of other fish as the light turn on in the morning (5 min before picture taken). Most of the fish in the group pictures are SnowOnyx. The SnowOnyx out number the Onyx 5 to 1. Also SnowOnyx have the characteristic of Ocellaris which tend to school into a fishball instead of scatter like the Percula.
About 1/2 of the SnowOnyx have extra white, some very nice marking. I did not have the time to take picture of my best Snowonyx this morning. This will have to wait until later

I am not happy with the color of most of the fish. I have found with Phil recommendation better food than the Otohime. I have ordered them and will start feed them with this new food as soon as it arrive. Will see if it improve the color. There are some deformities. I will need to do more water change and will try only to raise a small number of fish at a time. I think this will correct the problem. This is my first try at this. It is a very steep learing curve.

SnowOnyx have deeper bodyshap than Onyx. color development is a lot faster in SnowOnyx than in Onyx. I can tell with just a glance 95% of the time at this stage.

Were you feeding the Otohime TDO? What are you switching to? I asked around about NatuRose and was told that it's not longer available and "is being manufactured for pharmaceutical purposes". (hint-hint). I was also told that Red Phaffia Yeast was a good substitute, but I don't know if I like the idea of adding yeast to the food, though it is dead and probably better than synthetic astaxanthin.

Yes I ordered the TDOtohime. Will see if the color of the babies are going to be better. Several breeders reported that the increase in cost is worth it with better color of the babies.

I purchased the Breeder Pack that has all of the different sizes. I was also planning to gut load BBS with an astaxanthin source such as NatuRose, but since TDO already has astaxanthin I was just going to wait to see how the first batch turned out.

I just skip the BBS step all together. Rotifer for about 1 week then wean to Oto A. They do great without problem or mortality
