Some pieces I got for my tank. Very happy and Pat helped me out on showing/telling me which ones are easy to care for.

You finally make it to Fragstravaganza....and I missed it.:o

Yeah, I've been to it a few times. This would be the 2nd time buying frags from Pat. You always show up too late. lol

Anyways, are you planning to go to the next FMAS meet? I got something that I said I would give you.;)

No nothing for me. I'm trying to get rid of a lot of stuff :cough xenia: and adding SPS. Thanks for offering though. :)

Here's the stuff I got from Pat the other night...took pics last night...ignore the microbubbles on everything. My skimmer is going like mad after my thorough cleaning and I haven't gotten the air under control yet.

Kat, what epoxy did you use on the bottom of the corals? Did you do coral -> cyanoacrylite -> epoxy, or just coral on epoxy? I just bought (by accident now that I know about it) some TLF epoxy, and that ****e burns up like crazy while setting, so I'm scared to use it directly on any SPS in fear that it'll start a STN or RTN from heating up the flesh too much...

Yeah, I used AquaStik epoxy putty to attach the acros. I've had so many tumble or get knocked over that I decided to protect my investment this time. The AquaStik worked well and I only see slight bleaching right where the putty made contact with the coral. They attempt to make the putty "pink" in color to look like coralline algae, but as you can see, it still is pretty light in color. But, it gets covered in coralline pretty quickly anyway. I also wedge the pieces into some sort of hole or crevice, as I have not had much luck with getting it to stick to more flat areas. Here's info on the Two Little Fishies website:

AquaStik Epoxy Putty

I would recommend the 4oz. grey color as opposed to the 2oz. "pink" color as I don't see the half size pink being worth more than the 4oz grey.

why not just use super glue on it? i haven't seen any real problems with super gel glue. I've used it on all my SPS and some LPS without any deaths yet.

I've used super glue gel for my softies, but how do you use it for sps or lps? You must have to use an entire tube just to get it to stick. The epoxy works great anyway.

Its pretty simple to me. I usually mount mine on a piece of rubble so I can set it on my tray to move up along the tank to acclimate them to the lights. Then I take that piece of rubble and just add super gel glue to the bottom of it and stick it wherever I want. It needs to be held into place so it can stick/dry underwater. As for the LPS, I just put glue wherever there I see the stony structure of it. I'll look through my pictures and see if I can show what I am talking about.

Here are some pictures to help those who are iffy about how to mount frags (SPS.)

As you can see, I used rubble I found at the beach, mostly flat pieces that are not too large.

Here is a close up of the gel glue used with the SPS and rubble:

On the caps becareful about getting the glue on the tissue, it may burn. I found out on my other SPS which I will picture in the next picture.

It had a little tissue recession, but nothing to worry about. Its coming along nicely. Notice where I circled, thats where I added more glue to place it on the rock itself... this was only after I had acclimated it to the lights.

Awesome cap, green with purple tip. Hopefully it gets more green but from what i remember thats how green it was when I saw it at ReefLife.

careful with sticking sps with epoxy, the expoxy gets hot as it cures and can kill the frag, has happened to me 2 times :(. Super glue to life now.

So whats the deal with this thing, they do it every wednesday? what time? is it open to the public? OOOHH this slooks like fun.

Every Wednesday. 5-close I think? Noone is there at 5, so whoever is there early gets first dibs. Just ask Pat to start and he usually will frag some up. It's open to the public as far as I know... and Yea, it's a lot of fun :) Now my tank is full of frags with nowhere left to place them :(
