Manny you need to slow down. I agree both back stabbing and store bashing should not be done. That being said,I know your a loyal person and that is admirable but you went a little overboard there. Matt wasn't the first one that posted it, he was just saying that's what he has heard as well. I don't know if its true or not we will have to ask pat but he definitely didn't bad mouth or say anything wrong by agreeing that's what he heard as well. I Hope Pat/Reef life stays in business for a long time. I know he has a loyal following .....only time will tell.

Gasman, I don't what your problem is, you really need to think before you speak. Matt is a very honest, unbiased guy and you have no right to attack him just because he told what he has heard. He hasn't even worked for Reef's Edge long enough to
be "biased".

I frankly don't care what you think of me and its time someone spoke up and I'm going to be the one. You are rude and always butting in to other people's threads like you know everything. Its very annoying and you need to have a little more respect and less attitude.

Just because someone works for an LFS does not mean they have an agenda against other people/stores. I sell corals, but I remain good friends with Dave and Jeff at Coral Reef Farm as well as many of the other store owners.
I have a lot of respect for Pat and he has taught me a lot over the years and I hope his store is doing great. Maybe one of these days I'll have time to make it up there.

Stop trying to create a drama where there isn't one and hold your tongue for once.

I don't think we should be airing rumors, but I wanted to diffuse the issue by commenting that it may be just that and not truth. I say wait for Pat to comment as to what's going on and let it lie until then.
 
Yeah, its silly to think that us coral sellers are all "at war" with each other. I still visit other people's stores, cause I'm still a hobbyist at heart. I even buy from other stores sometimes and not to resell. A lot of us store owners actually tend to look out for each other than be cut throat about things. I've always felt its better to make friends in this business than enemies.

I think your a great guy.
Your reason for saying those things was pure and only out of your respect you have for Pat.
We all hope these are all rumors and false.
Lets get back to the Wednesday Night Fragstravaganza info.
 
Anyways, all my frags are doing great... except for the birdnest. :( seems to be bleaching from the tips, trying to figure out what the problem is.

I'll be at the next few fragstravaganza if i can make it.
 
Its okay, I understand you're a passionate person, but Matt is also a good guy. If you have issues with the store he works for don't direct it at him. ;]

Funny you mention that, because I have great pink growth on the tips of the frag that I got, except the base died a little bit, and now algae is taking over, so I'm hoping that it'll either grow back, or at least hold where it is.

I really hate when things get flared up here, because people on the internet are so faceless. I know both Manny and Matt, and they're both great people, great reefers, and great club members. They've both been nothing but nice to me, and I'm sure most other members as well.

About the rumor thing though, yea, rumors suck, and if you work at an LFS (like any other job) I'm sure rumors of the competition (call it what you will, but at the end of the day it's still competition) and how they're doing in the market are of course going to come up. The issue is when they leave that store (or job) and surface into a public forum, and that's when trouble really starts.

Either way, lets just be one big happy FMAS family!

Matt, my shop and how it conducts its business or whether it will relocate or close is none of your freakin business. How dare you offer a timetable of our demise to the people visiting this thread.
You blatantly omitted our shop pics from the hop thread and then expected me to believe that you hadn't? It's just simple math, digital cameras number pics by time and date taken and there were 12 pics omitted from CRF to RE and by time and date they are from our shop . Do I think you're honest and don't harbor any ill will torwards us? Not for one second.

Adam (shockme) you're inability to keep your electricians license and insurance in good order caused me a 90 day delay in moving into my space, furthermore you put the entire store's pump & lighting system on 3 breakers and placed outlets on the wrong side of the walls. This forum is not the place to air your laundry, but since you insist.

For those of you who don't know what's going on......

An employee of the store used very poor judgement while I was away for a long weekend and subsequently, we were in a difficult postion as a result of this employee's actions. It was believed that the result was that we may have to move. We are not going out of business at worst we could relocate. I think over the last 2 weeks we have been able to straighten out most of the kinks and should be able to operate our business as usual.

Please close this thread!

I dont know if this is going to come out right or not but here is my comments...

I do work part time at a local fish store. I will keep it nameless those that know thats fine.
I have the utmost respect for anyone who delves into the nightmare, stressfull and very competitive world of being a reef store.
tho I havent been to some stores and unfortunately havent had the chance to go to Pat's new place it takes a lot to place your livelyhood in a business/hobby you love and where the margins and competition is so tough and also competing with online stores and hobbiest trading.
my personal thought is any bussiness is probably within 1 month of going under if sales dont meet the overhead (and not just fish stores)....
Pat and his employees have always treated me well weather I spent a ton or just came in and BS'd. I really hope everything works out for him.

if I was to say bad things about a LFS it is only from personal experience and not to bad mouth them or spread rumors to bolster eithor bad feelings or boost my stores business....

There is one local store I do bad mouth and I only do it to people I know personally and always say that it is my experience and may not be someone elses...

I am going to post a FYI in the Team RC forum to have this thread closed so that any bad info, feelings and misinformation may cease and desist.....

I usually try to keep neutral to this kind of threads however, after reading everyone comments I must say that I have to agree with Pat and Manny (gasman) about Matts comments, There were unnecessary at the very least.
I don't agree with the way this was handle by neither party since we are all adults, Having said that I must tell you Pat that I feel very sorry about any issues you have had in the store lately and will like to offer you any support from me personally, I will pass by the store to talk to you tomorrow.
We need good stores like yours stay open!

It's closed, Andy. I fear that you may be a bit over optimistic about the results of closing it.
