By the way i am 35 years old havent been a teenager for a long time. I appreciate the advice everyone is giving. But back when i first got started in sw was when the original jbj 12 gallon nano cube came out. Did not no anything about salt water and just relied on what the lfs told me. Did not even know about reef central. Even then i was told to buy a damsel to cycle the tank. I am sure many of you have done this. We have found this is not the most accetable way to cycle a tank but can be done. If i had it do to over again i wouldnt have added fish. Luckily the the clowns are in the damsel family. And are hearty

I am not a newbie and research alot. I have had freshwater tanks growing up as a kid. And had some on my own then got intrested In salt water then got a nano cube. After that turned my 60 gallon hexagon into a reef tank even after every store said it could not be done. It was lit by a 250w mh lumenarc reflector and a 14 inch canopy that my dad and me built. I had clams an anemone lps, zoos etc. and even a few birdsnest frags and montipora sps frags at the top. I also have a 5000 gallon koi fish and shubunkin double waterfall pond. I am not saying i am an expert but definately not over my head. I appreciate any comments and the reason people are on this board is to learn.

Cycling with fish is very old school and completely unnecessary. Fish food will turn into ammonia if it runs through a fish first or is just thrown in the tank. This is pretty basic stuff. Take it slow and research more. Your clowns may make it thru the cycle but they are suffering. Fish just have trouble showing it until it's too late ;)

Those Allardi's can live to be 20-30 years and aren't always easy to find. Please remove them from an almost certain death in that tank.

I'll give them a generous 15% chance of surviving the cycle. I wouldn't like those odds if they were my fish... I'd like them even less if I was the fish!

The solution is a simple one... Ignorance is bliss I guess?

Dont you think we will find a dead shrimp before a dead fish?????

Seriously!?! After all the conversation in this thread and all your "research" this is the question you want answered?? I'm not sure you understand the goal of this hobby.

Hint: Its not a race to see what you can kill next.

I'm wasting my fingers now. I'm done with this thread.

Just tested the water
0 amonia
30ppm nitrates
3ppm nitrites

Just trying to help, anything but ZERO on NO2 and NO3 or they get out to a safe tank until yours cycles completely. Taking chances in this hobby is foolish and costly. Like we all have been saying- Just trying to help.

I was just kidding these fish are so gangsta. They are like 2 pac still alive. Bout to feed them a six foot seven foot banana. Ha. No in a seriousness everyone is still alive emerald crab, cleaner shrimp and both fishes. As well as the hermit crabs and all but 1 snail i witnessed a murder last night damn hermits. I hope they dont get weezy for accessory as he is still on probation

Now would be an excellent time to start testing your tank. Daily. You've mentioned many parameter swings in your tank, and with a few cheap test kits, you can plot your progress and tank trends, as well as determine the readiness of the tank to accept it's first livestock. While tanks first cycle, they may test fine one day, and be off the charts the next day. Daily testing will reveal these interesting trends and help you build a strong foundation for your overall tank husbandry, as well as ensure the success of the animals in your charge.

If you don't know already, it could have helped you avoid your current predicament.

Saltwater fish are gangstarz till the very end. That's how they survive in the wild - by not showing any weakness that may make them appear vulnerable, resulting in being chosen as prey. As others mentioned, if they are still alive, do right by your fish and temporarily rehome them. If you purchased them from a LFS, they probably wont mind obliging you for a few weeks until your parameters level out.

I have no problems gauging the rates of success or failure, but I refuse to place odds on the life of a living creature as if I were taking bets for the fun of it. Not to be rude, but I can create odds for your success in this hobby as well. Would it insult you? Probably. But it wouldn't kill you. It seems to me that you're playing a game with an animals life.

At this point, failure to act on your situation is a product of ignorance, laziness, or vigor for wickedness. I'm uninterested in your personal motivation. Purposely subjecting an animal to a known harmful environment could be described as cruel or unethical, but everyone here is simply trying to help you.

If you're missing a piece of the great puzzle here, by all means, please let us know so we can help.

+1

It is senseless. Spot on about overall success as well. On an evil upside some saltwater business should benefit greatly on livestock sales.
