Weird things on SPS Frag

Hey everyone.

I got this frag a few months back and it's been growing well.

As a complete fluke I was taking some pictures and managed to get some good detail on the structure and noticed some yellow things with little red dots on them.

Anyone know what these things are?

Awesome, thanks everyone.

Do I just need to treat that one coral? Or does it affect all of my corals?

Nice Pic of Red Bugs. Those little things are typically hard to see and even harder to get clear pictures of!
Don't worry too much. They are easily killed off with intercepter. And you CAN treat the whole tank at once. You might lose your hermit crabs, but everything else should be fine.

And the quest begins for "Interceptor"...

One of my friends is a vet, and she told me if the necessity were explained to her properly, and provided with supporting documentation for it's use, she'd happily write a perscription for it. She likes killing red bugs as much as she likes killing heartworms

I believe the life cycle is five days so if you took out all your acros for a week and treated them theoretically you could get rid of them that way. Easier to treat the whole tank and be certain though.

Thanks! I will try it.

Thing is, I don't know any vets at all! An initial conversation to try to get drugs without even having a Dog will be difficult to pull off!

If only Canada had online retailers like the US...

Ok, that being said... They only affect Acro's right? Don't need to worry about softies or leathers?

Will the "interceptor" have any effect on my RBTA?

Well it looks like the showpiece of the tank has it also. So guess treating the whole tank is my only option right now.

I've read online that Interceptor has an effect on cleaner shrimp also. Anyone else care to comment?

Here's a pretty clear pic I managed to get:

Just to give an idea of how small these things actually are.

Here's a full shot of the coral. I have yet to be able to see them with the naked eye. It's kind of scary to think about really... Imagine how many other tanks that can have them without the reefkeeper knowing about it.

The box is where the picture in my last post was taken

There is a good chance any shrimp and hermit crabs will be killed. Some people don't lose the shrimp but it is best to take them out if possible. I lost my cleaner but not my peppermint. Snails don't seem to be affected. They are very hard to see as well, I only noticed them in my tank because they were on a Pearlberry and I saw them on the whiter areas.

Ive read in several places that the bugs do not have a larval stage and do not lay eggs. So are 3 treatments really necessary?
