Well, for $550, I think I have a right to gripe a little.

After owning a Stream, I know what kind of mounting hardware is included. Given it has been a year for some improvements, I had hoped for much better when I purchased my wavebox.

Let me say that for as superior the pumps and electronics are, the mounting hardware is inversely superior. I would even say they are pure poop if you have anything other than a rimless tank.

Hell, the one suction cup that was included won't even stick on the glass. Totally useless. I can buy a $10 heater and get better. Probably would get two suction cups included.

I know, I know.... get the magnets. Bah! They aught to be included.

that's one reason for me that i'm holding off on getting a couple streams, for roughly a thousand dollars you would think they could throw in some magnets LOL, I do love my osmolator but the mounting hardware for that is pure garbage too. But if the streams are as good quality as the top off unit theyre probably worth it, even though they nickel and dime you for the magnets.

Heck, Is something as simple as a good quality suction cup is beyond them?

That is vital to the operation.

It looks real good in there with Magfloats on two sides holding it in place.:rolleye1:

I never have any problem with my suction cup not because i have an ext waveboxes but all the suction cup i got from Tunze stick onto the panel very well. I have to pull it really hard to get it off most of the time.

As for the mounting bracket, what kind of problem do you all encounter? I have use the bracket before on my 150g visio tank the one with the plastic trim around the top and bottom but i never have problem with it either. I know it doesn't seem to be fancy like the pump but it work fairly well. I guess you have to play around with the bracket or just be creative :D

If it's the round common black junk one that everyone includes with their aquarium gadgets then I'd throw it away and buy one of the good ones at Walmart in their craft section. They are clear vinyl/silicone and hold like no tomorrow. Those black ones are the cheapest any retailer can buy so it's no wonder they are included with all aquarium stuff on the cheap. They don't care if they work or not, hey you got one with it didn't you?

I will check at walmart. But the one that was included is definitely un-useable.

And about the brackets, sure, they work, but I would expect a little better.

It is not user error. Heck, I even spit on it.

Any fish or corals take casualty :D:lol:

Is your panel clean and algae free..

Completely clean. It is in a "test tank" and actually in fresh water right now.

Listen, I have seen my share of suction cups, and this one is junk.

I hear ya Steve, I have some suction cups that came with my new euro-reef calcium reactor and they stick amazingly well, I can't get them off without prying under with my fingernail.

You'd think with as popular as these products are someone in the aftermarket would come up with something.
Hell I had to spend over $100 each on huge algae cleaning magnets to mount my waveboxes halfassed because the acrylic is 1.25" thick and Tunze doesn't make a magnet for it.

Frankly, I am surprised and disappointed I have not been offered a replacement suction cup or two.

Seems like "help" for other issues is handed out rather freely.

No go at the local one. The suction cups they did have had a different "mount"

So I STILL have a POS suction cup.

I would be f$cked if I wanted this in my current tank. The only good thing is it is for a future tank I am working on.

Did they have the wire hook on the round bud of the cup? They come in bags of 10 er 20 er so. The wire hooks can be removed.

Yes, they where as you describe. The suction cup on the wavebox is sort of the inverse of that.

The round bud is on the box and the suction cup has a socket that accepts it.

My problem is two fold.
1st- the actual material of the suction cup.
2nd - the construction of it. The "rubber" is too thin in the botom of the previously mentioned socket. So thin, in fact, that I believe it allows the vacuum to leak out and the suction to fail.

Ah, love how companies are designing stuff these days so you have to buy only their accessories and can't make something else work that's already available. Geez.

just spent an hour trying to get the brackets to work on my bin
Love my new 9010, but the mounting system gives you like 5 options and none work unless I had a crazy shaped sump, or a elos rimless:p
+ Not sure the magnet will work for my application, tried the smaller one, and it did'nt, don't wanna spend the money on the big one to find out it does'nt work

Jarhead, thanks for the offer. pm Sent.

I feel let down BIG time. No "official" support whatsoever.

I guess I was not worth the trouble of a response.

I differentiate between honest requests for help and those that just want to vent. In just about every other country tanks do not have trim, we are the exception and not the rule. This has a lot to do with the size of our country and the nature of the aquarium industry here. In Europe there are dozens if not hundreds of tank manufacturers and they don't have to ship very far, no trim is needed. In Latin America and Asia most tanks are built locally by a glass worker. If you ship a tank thousands of miles without plastic trim to guard the edges, odds are slim that it won't arrive broken and that is why we have trim. As far as the price, you are paying a hefty premium because the dollar is so weak now and there is nothing I can do about that, a couple years ago these things were $100 less. We constantly work to improve things and we have made steady progress towards incorporating magnet holders with more and more of our products. Your first post read like a rant and I ignored it, sorry but I have better things to do than engage rants. I note them, I mention them in meetings with the factory and we try to improve but I didn't see any benefit in offering you more "POS" suction cups. I have never had a problem with the suction cups, they work as well as most, basically in 6 months they are worthless and you throw them away and buy new ones, it is just the nature of the beast. If I had read they were torn or defective and not just that you didn't like them I would have done something. Sorry, but my time is worth something and I help where I can and move on where I don't see how I can be of any help. I can't make it cheaper, I can't wave a wand and make them include magnet holders and despite the conspiracy theorists the truth is that the magnet holders have always been the lowest mark up item we offer for just the reason of helping people who require them. The main reason they are not included is it would lead to substantial production delays and if you lived in most other countries with a trimless glass tank, they would not be necessary and you would probably gripe about the extra $50 it cost to have a pair of magnet holder instead of a basic clamp. The current magnet holder design does not easily lend itself to mass production and that is a major obstacle to including them. Sorry, one of the things you learn in this field is you can't please everybody.

, or a elos rimless:p

I live in Michigan and I do not have an ELOS tank, but it is a trimless tank. We can get them here, just have to look for them and I love the trimless design.
