Well, it's been fun..........

OK, so no, it hasn't.................Been a rough year, and this week took the cake. Some of you have already seen what has happened via my build thread. I'm uploading a few more pics to add to it, but here is the location of the pertinent, recent, details:
Jeremy's 250g Build Thread - Take II

I'll just warn you now, it's not pretty. I lost nearly all of my acros, blastos, chalices, wrasses.....you name it, it's gone. Other than the wrasses, the fish made it, as well as the favias and zoas, and some of thee montis. Short version: temp controller malfunction, as far as I can tell, which cranked the heat up.

With all that has already been going on personally, this is just too much. I have decided to break the tank down and sell it. Once life settles down again, I will be back, but I can't handle this now. A series of FS threads will appear over the next few days, as I salvage what I can, and hunker down to ride out my own personal financial dilemas. If you know of anyone who is interested in a spectacular reef setup, consisting of a 80"x24"x30" acrylic tank and furniture grade stand and canopy, please let me know. I'll be trying to figure out pricing in my "spare time".

This is obviously an unpleasant thing to deal with, and I've been contemplating taking the tank down anyhow. This just sealed the deal. I have very much enjoyed meeting you all, both on and off the boards. While I won't have a tank for a while, I'll still definitely be around here on RC. I'm still debating setting up a nano-ish tank, but I need to get through the next few days before I decide on that. Thanks to everyone that has made this journey enjoyable, with particular thanks to a few reefers, and good friends, Mark Poletti, Jim Sotello, and Tim Plaza. There are many others that I'd add to the list, but I've already been extraordinarily long winded, and I've got photobucket waiting and my thread to update.

Brutal! My condolences. And you were such a good meeting host! :D

I'm going to stick my neck out a bit and say this. If you are done with reefing or even just need a break, good for you for recognizing that. If in the grand scheme of things this is "just" a tragic hardware malfunction, the club and I are here to help you through it.

My sympathies again.

Ken

Thanks Ken. I'm definitely not "done", just done for now.

I'm sorry to hear this. You have a beautiful setup. Like Ken said, it says a lot knowing what you need to do and doing it. Just ask if you need help.

That sucks Jeremy. I know how you fell I went through the same thing only I did not have as much to lose. If you needed any help moving things around I would be happy to help again.

Sorry to hear the Jeremy, thats why I use the type of heaters that comes with its own temp controller just in case and then connect those to my external temp controller. Last year you had a problem with GFI too so this must have sux to have a simmilar thing happen again.

When ever you come back into the hobby let me know and I'll hook you up.

Threads like this make me want to take my tank down just so I never would have to experience it. I'm so sorry to hear what happened, and hope the gods lay off for a bit. If you need help moving it or with anything else you've got my phone #.

WOW!!! thats F*cked! I'm really sorry to hear that. I had a similliar problem with a heater before i hooked up my ac3. I woke up one morning went stick my hand in my tank and it was freezing. My heater just stopped working and my temp dropped to like 65 degrees. Its sux when something like this happens because of a cheap *** heater! Lemme know if there's anything i can do to help.

that sucks man sorry to here about your lose. i guess the goby is fish fry now. if you need anything let me know

Jeremy,

Sorry to hear you have to sell your tank. We will be here when you get back into it. Hopefully that will be sooner than you think. Best Regards.

Thanks Steve,
I'll be around. Got a nano set up in the garage for now, and a 70g tech tank that I'll set up whenever we move and get settled in. Figured the 70 will be a good re-starter tank for awhile.

Jeremy, I knew you can't stay away... lol, you got salt water in your blood :D ... welcome back ... need some corals lets me know and I'll set you up.

 Thanks Tom. It was never a question of getting out, just downsizing until I can manage things again. Also, the thought of moving that tank again was not very appealing.
