What bulb to use with ballast

I bought a 250 watt hamilton pulse start ballast. What are the bist bulbs to use with this mh. I am looking for both realistic lighting and coral growth. Nothing 2 blue. I will be supplementing the halide with 4 pc bulbs.

havent received it yet. Its an sylvania hid pulse start 250 watts ballast.

I don't know mcuh about the ballast.

Different people like different bulbs. There's a lot of personal taste involved. The XM 10k bulbs might be a reasonable starting point, but every bulb has its admirers and detractors.

was thinking about the hamilton 14k. Dont want to much blue as im using actnics. Looking for coral growth and appearence. It seems that this is a halfway point

The Lamps you will be looking for are Mogul based, single ended that run on a 250 watt M136 pulse start ballast. There are quite a few available.

i bought mine at aquauniverse.com they are 15ks. very happy with them. not too blue not too white. and their prices are pretty good. they claim they have a 20000 hour life .

I haven't been happy with my Hamilton 150 W DE setup, but the mogul bulbs might be fine. The Hamilton isn't as efficient as the XM bulbs, but you might like the looks betters.
