What clown to get?

Hi everyone. im new to the board but not the addiction, i mean hobby lol.
Anyway, im sort of a clown fanatic, and want to get a new pair of clowns but dont know what type

I want to stay away from Percs ans Ocellaris. Was thinking of something suitable for a 20 or 30g tank, maybe skunks, clarkii, or saddlebacks.

Could you please share your experiances with these, or others that might be a good choice. Pics of juvies and full grown adults would be nice too, thanks!

[welcome]

So hard to pick for someone, lots of great choices.
Skunks are nice, usually more mellow, but need a good contrast host to really pop.
I personally like percs, and if you have the budget, picasso's, or even snowcasso's/snowflakes(occ) are my favs.

I'd steer clear of the clarikiis. They get really aggressive the older they get. If I had to choose from the three you listed, I'd go with the saddlebacks.

Thanks! I was choosing something other than Occ & Percs (Percs being my favorite) because i already have some, onyx, picasso, and a nice little wild caught female. As for Occ i have a pair of black & whites.

Would a purple H. Malu or a blue gigantea be nice contrast? :D

Oh ok, i dont want my fingers to get chomped when i put my hands in the tank. Have you had any experience with saddlebacks?

I think a purple malu would be great contrast, yes.
Also agree on clarkis.
I can deal w/ clowns biting me(though I prefer not of course) but my clarks tore into all other fish when they spawned, they had to go.
Even my maroons were nice to other fish while spawning.

I have a pair of saddlebacks and they are very mellow. I can't get the to host anything but that wasn't why I bought them. More then once I have had people say wow what are those. Then I get a surprised look when I tell them saddlebacks.

pics please!

Do you know where they were collected from? i found that saddlebacks collected from different places have different coloration and bar thickness

Cinnamon clowns dont catch my attention that much, leucokranos on the other hand is a different story :bounce1:

Did you happen to see that clown on rare clownfish?

What about blackfoot clowns(Amphiprion Nigripes)?

Is this a cinnamon?

I have one in my tank, it came with the tank when I bought it used (had lived for a year with no lights no feeding and only top offs)

She is mean as the dickens, bites me EVERY time I have to put my hands in the tank!
