what do you do with your RTN/STN Corals??

i have read that the tissue that flakes off can float around until it lands on other sps corals and then cause them to die also!! True or not??

i have noticed that when one goes usually several do so i could be true but could also just be whatever caused the problem in the first place...so??

I have had some acros STN/RTN whilst others survived. The tougher ones make it through and it didnt matter if there there necrosis tissue floating around.

I usually frag the affected coral in any event to save at least some part of it rather than losing all of it slowly.

Depends on the piece, and what it's doing. I have 2 pieces right now that grew back from tiny specs. Had I taken them out I would have lost them completely.

A lot of times i just toss them in the back of the tank. Specially if it's a maricultured piece. I'll save the plug for something else, or use it in my rock work.

If they are glued in a good spot, I leave them as new realestate for other corals :)

+1. The only way that this could spread would be more of a result of a change in parameters vs anything spreading.

I wait it out..I've had some stn corals come back and regrow over the dead areas..and I've had some just completely die. When they die I take them out.

I usually wait until it is complete dead (sometimes, a branch survives like a colony of an abrotanoides that I have), then I save the skeleton for my calcium reactor. Recycle...soon they will become part of a living organism again.

i like to cut above the RTN and superglue in differnt area.
Dont dip since that will stress even more.
But still less then 50/50 they will make it.
I haven't had any Old school corals stn/RTN in a while but new wild frags can RTN for no reason.
Dead one uses to go to my ca reactor after cleaning.
