what do you know about H. malu

Mine anemone was sold as a Malu but people on this site say its a crispa? It completely buried its foot in the sand? Does that indicate anything? It has these lateral lines across the body... I thought that was more a malu look?

Beats me what I have at this point.

Sorry for the crappy pictures

I've never seen one like that in person, doesn't mean they don't exist, it's just not the typical crispa I guess.

I'm curious how to tell from just that shot. There's still so much to learn :)

That's exactly how I feel. Two different and very reputable LFS had similar anemones and they both said that they come from the wholesaler as sebae and do not know if they are crispa or malu. I'm definitely going to wait until I find one that is for sure a crispa.

GSMguy - Will the tentacles grow longer as it matures and what is the reason for the shortness of them now?

that reefermadness pic is h. crispa and yes the tenticles will grow longer as it matures , not so much with malu . i have read that the tenticles will shorten in the absence of clownfish however that did not happen to my 8"-10" specimen when i had to remove all fish from my system for three months due to ich . still need to factor in that it didn't have the stress of shipping . it's my guess that the anemone pictured was not in their system very long . to me from what i can see of anthworks pic , it looks like a small crispa which is spread out to expose more surface area to light . i could be wrong , again time will tell . btw , doesn't take long once settled in when environmental conditions are met and it's fed well .
