live sand--too expensive for what it is---one cupful of live sand from another established tank makes argonite sand live sand
crushed coral===not a good idea--trapps detrius and nitrates etc far to easy---very hard to clean---looks ugly after awhile for the reasons I stated
my opionion---go with a good medium grain argonite. The live rock and substrate form the basis of your biological filtration system for the life of your tank---don't skimp on either of these

I think the poll is a little confusing----I imagine some reefers pick live sand because that is what they have===but they probably if starting over would seed the sand with a cup of live sand from an established bed
Ask the question Would you buy live sand or seed it yourself and you will get different data.
