It seems most of the post are about ID this, what is this worth, is this rare, and here's a picture. Does anyone want to share, discuss, talk about that which is most educational, helpful and constructive? Why wait until you have a serious issue and need urgent help. Can't we discuss those hypothetical now? Does anyone want to share some in depth specific details about their systems, how old they are, how did you get from point A to point B? Is there any concern with husbandry and proactive prevention? Anyone want to share their new lighting systems? Whether or not your skimmer increases or decreases growth? Do you have a fug on your zoa tank? Why? Why not? What about how much or little current you have and the affects you have notice? Anyone using wavemakers and want to share some specific details and observations? Anyone made any recent discovers as it relates to something you did to improve or correct something on your own? Anyone upgrade their system? Anyone want to discuss regional requirements for different zoas and palys? What about a discussion on salinity and why you feel yours are most conducive for growth. MH & T5 comparison. Does anyone have anything they want to share besides the same topics everyday?

This forum is dying and only the members like yourselves can revive it. So, does anyone have anything they want to share........please?

actually i was reading somewhere that the aussie zoos and solomon island zoos need higher light than "normal" is this true? haven't been able to get my hands on any, im looking for some blue, thats about the only color zoo i don't have.
 
Apparently it's true that Zoa's can survive a high speed impact with a wall...mine are starting to open up again...lol

Interesting that you should ask that. I have noticed that my zoo's seem to have a better color and seem all around more happy when my nutrient lvls are a bit higher. Only problem with this is other bad stuff likes those high nutrient lvls..Cyno and other algeas, flat worms just to name a few. Now this is just my observations.
 
i think I'll just go on my name rant at this point...
I enjoy looking through the Id's to see what some people zoas look like but at the same time i think why does it matter? Just because you call some zoas whammin watermelons does that make you really think they're whammin or better? I don't mind names to label when your telling everyone what kind of zoas you have or the morphs you are selling, but in my mind the name is not what should sell the zoa instead it should be color. I almost prefer when i see someone selling zoas and labeling them as green w/ red skirts..I dunno if my rant makes much sense but there it is
 
Thanks for posting this Mucho. I have only been keeping zoos for a couple of months and would like more of the info you spoke of. I buy zoos because they look nice to me, not because they are the hotsy, totsy new zoo of the month.

I would like to ask a question. What does everyone keep in their tank with their zoos? What kind of corals are compatible with them? I have a few sps frags, a couple acans, a micro, several LPS and miscellaneous mushrooms and ricordias with my zoos. They seem to be alright with everyone except the acans which seem to sting them.

Cool... perhaps we can build something like on Mythbusters, using a high powered air cannon to shoot zoas at different speeds! :)
 
Those of you that have information to share don't have to just answer questions, you're allowed to initiate discussions as well.
If you think the naming and pricing of different color morphs is insane, start a thread about it.
Got a Yellow Tang that eats blue zoas? Post about it! The folks that make this forum their home have the power to not only guide ongoing discussions, but to spark new ones, that they won't be bored with.
You're going to get noobs in here. Zoas attract noobs as much as any other coral. They may choose to sit down and read a bit before asking questions, if the thread titles catch their eye. Rather than feel like the forum is dying, make a few posts to wake it up ;)
 
i agree.. thats one of the reasons i stopped coming into this forum... glad to see others felt the same way...
 
I agree with everyone here I myself started zoa's in my reef tank a few months back and have been adding some from time to time.I read this forum to learn more about raising them but the info on "how to" has been replaced with "how much" and ID please" I would add content here but since I am just getting started I don't have much advice to others at this point.
 
Yup that's what I mean loves saltwater, sometimes you will be lucky to get any replies or even looks. I love the idea but I don't think its working.
 
I think it's working great, because now every other thread in this area isn't a basic ID question. Why do people feel so strongly they need to have some made up name associated with a zoanthid? Also, so many of those threads could be answered if the poster would just take a minute or two to look at zoaid or surf around the forum a bit.
 
I agree % 100 Peter. I think it is working very well. Some just haven't noticed it's down there at the bottom.

I just wish we had as many post regarding other Zoa and Paly related topics. There seems to be a shift towards ID's, pictures and value and not much attention is being paid to reefing, in my humble opinion.
