What have you done with your tank lately?

I looked at it for awhile yesterday, sitting empty and sad, and said a little prayer that July comes soon!! lol

I scrapped most of the coraline off of my overflow and I gave my return lock line and my vortechs vinager baths. So fresh, so clean!

I increased my vodka dose from 3ml to 6ml to 10 ml over the past couple weeks in an attempt to reduce my nitrates. I was getting no reduction at 3 or 6 so Im increasing to 10. I'll does that for a week and test unless I see the white bacterial growth,if that doesnt work I'll increase it to 15ml and go from there.

I will not let the high nitrates beat me. Its personal now! lolz :uzi::blown:

Why do I have the high nitrates? I'm not sure. It could be because my rock is leaching ( its what I think is happening) .Other than that Im not sure. Ive got a 1/4 ton of live rock in the system,an ATS thats going strong. I dont think I overfeed (although its possible) but it seems Ive always been fighting high nitrates in my tanks. Now Im determined to get them down to an acceptable level.

What do you have in your sump? Live rock, cheato, etc....

I was having a nitrates problem, but now that I have a sump full of cheato, this weekend my nitrates were zero.

If you're carbon dosing and you still have nitrate issues, then you're not dosing enough. You're going the right direction and you've been taking it slow, so just keep going......you'll get there.

I was about to do my water change for water change wednesday, but this time i decided to test my premixed salt water storage because it was dark in color... the p04 was .05!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here i am wondering why im blowing through GFO like it is my job! anyways, i tested the water out of my RO/DI unit and bam... .06!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just changed out all of my filters except the RO membrane... luckily i had a fresh one sitting in my cabnit. so i installed it and ran it for a few minutes and the p04 coming out of my unit are now .015. I suppose my corals must be used to a little phosphate so im not worried about this number. i just cant believe that they got so high! thank GOD i figured that out!

now i probably dont need an algae scrubber... lol but i am still going to run it.

I did a water change on my frag tank. I also go my big geo skimmer up and running.
