haha, that's an awesome pic for what it is. Is that a sponge? How long have you had it/ what do you do to keep it alive?
ok, enough with the ADD, that's just an amphipod, aka tasty fish treats, chances are you have them ALL over your system, just look into the tank with a flashlight at night. Not harmful at all.

Ya, that's a tall red tree sponge. Just one of the many freebies that came with all my TBS rock.
Just got it last week. I started feeding my tank Phytofeast. We'll see how it goes!

Actually, I'd like to see some more pictures of the critter if you can get them. It could just be the angle of the photo, but almost looks like a small pistol shrimp. There are several species that live within the cavities of sponges, including one that is the only know example of a eusocial marine animal.

That was my first thought too until I looked more closely at the eyes. It's not one of the eusocial alpheids. Here's some more about them & a pic for comparison http://naturalpatriot.org/2007/11/05/back-from-the-wilds/ There are a number of very small shrimp in several genera that are sponge commensals; amphipods too.
