What is this on my zoa?

Can anyone identify what this is on my zoa? I bought this the other day and noticed it when I was putting it in the tank. Didn't know what it was so I left it on.

some type of hairy sponge? if you don't want it there, have you tried to scrape it off?

If it won't bother the zoanthids then I may just leave it till this weekend. I hate to just kill it and may take it off and place it somewhere else in the tank.

I agree it is a sponge....I have a few of them in my tank that look just like that....If it starts to encroach on your zoas then remove it....

In order to post it in a thread,

These look to me like flat worms. Even though they are blurry.

thanks everyone for the replies, it was a sponge and I removed it last night, had wanted to keep it but it didn't come off very well and I had to pry it off in pieces.

Curious... why didn't you just split the rock? Dremel or hammer and chisel and boom, sponge seperate from zoas.
