this "thing" appeared last week.

sorry for the bad pic...my first experience with a new dig camera.
and yes, my tank is filthy...but I didn't want to disturb this "thing" until I had a good pic

to describe it: it's thin, long, white and snaky...looks like an overhead of a switchback road or maybe your intestines. :) In its snaky form its approx 4" long, and would be twice that if 'uncoiled'

its stuck to the glass

Friend or Foe?

Snail eggs... We get them on the glass probably once every week or so. Most of the time the fish take care of cleaning them off. If not, they get mag floated off when we scrape. No worries.

really?
most of my snails have passed on to the 'great reef in the sky', so that kinda surprises me

what would happen to them if I touched them and/or knocked them off the glass?

ah, thanks Moriah...you must've been posting while I was typing
so just sweep them away and be done with it?

I try to keep my front glass as clean as possible (time permitting), but I leave portions of the sides to the algae. The snails are always grazing on it.

I hear ya! now that I know I'm not killing something rare...consider it done

interesting (to me), when I checked it last night the first string had 'wasted away' (or maybe eaten) and another string (smaller than the first) had been laid

I've had my tank for (too many years to count) and have never had snail eggs
Go figure, huh?

Thanks ya'll
