What is your favortie fish book?

So, I've seen the Achilles at YR. Love him...I know I can't keep him in the upcoming 120. I do want to start looking for the 'show piece' fish for my new mixed reef tank.

What is your choice for a good fish book? I'm looking to find something to help me stock the new tank. Just looking for pics mainly...then I'll research compatibility and husbandry. Any ideas? Is there a go-to book like the Corals of the World books?

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist- Robert Fenner (probably the best beginner book)

The Reef Aquarium (Vol 1,2&3)-Sprung and Delbeek. My personal favorites. Everything you would ever want to know, from basic setup to advanced techniques. Lots of info on all sorts of coral/inverts. Not much fish specific info though.

Scott Michael it is then...thanks folks. Just looking specifically for fish info right now. I've got the set-up mostly figured out. Going to a sump is going to be...different. Looking forward to stability and a bunch of new gadgets that a bigger tank will bring. You'll know when it is here as my post count will go through the roof.

I collect books, I have over 1000 in 9 different languages on fish alone, I can't read them all but I can look a pictures in most languages,LOL, the scott micheals books are probably the best for aquaruim info, but if you are looking for specific knowledge, the best source is to find a scientific journal that has been published or a local guide on specific area. I have found more useful information from a guide like natural diet and habitat that I can adapt to my fish tank then in any aquaruim guide. also, in one of the earlier posts, there is one for the burgass aquarium guide by TFH, this book has a lot of photos, but many are mis identified and there is no text that is useful to fish keepers.

If you are really interested in Placerville there is a friend who owns the AQUATIC BOOK SHOP, he is an online vendor and has 1000's of aquarium and aquatic natural history books. Look him up and go through his list, some great titles.

Over a thousand books? Seriously? Yikes...I was looking for two that are the 'fish bible' of the industry. I was going to use the fishbase.org site for diet, etc. Anyone had any issues with that?

Scott Michael does sound like the way to go...or Dr. Suess...I'll have to compare prices. I've heard Suess is a little light on the info, but a much better read. We'll see...
