What makes a PE a PE?

How about this as a defining characteristic?

When my 3-yr old jumps on the floor next to the tank, my PE's (as defined by a green slit mouth and black & white axial stripes when closed) close up ("watch the coral close their eyes, daddy"); none of the ~50 other colonies of zoas close. Since I only have one type of PE (but lots of colonies of it), I'm not sure if this is a general characteristic of PEs. Anyone else?

I have a few colonies of zoas that will close up at even the thought of something bumping the tank. So will these guys. I picked these up the other day from a fellow reefer. They're already at least two shades darker than when in his tank and getting a deeper purple by the day. I actually got a three polyp frag but I split it up and put one polyp on another rock. One pic with flash, the other without. Lighting is a 175w 15K XM.
