What supplements do you add to your tank?

:debi: Water changes, yo! Cheapest way to provide trace element supplements.

In seriousness though, I'm pretty interested in ZEO products (and other ULNS systems like probidio); I've been watching a few build threads on nano reef of users doing hybrid systems without ZEOlites.

About once a week or so I put in half the recommended dose of Vita Chem, nothing else out of the norm.

I just brought bio pellets, gfo, and carbon online, so I'm waiting to see effects before trying amino acids.
My purple rim monti is now a white rim monti and purples have faded on other corals too.
My understanding of the Zeo, is its a system of super low nutrients, carbon dose to get the bacteria (helps get to ULNS), then dose aminos. I think it limits zooxanthellae and their energy source, while upping the bacteria as coral food/energy source and the aminos needed for pigments. Thats my stab at it, please someone clarify/correct if you know more. Fish poo supposedly has all the aminos coral needs, but i can't argue with the looks of zeo tanks I've seen.

Following along, hoping for some input on what people have had success with in getting corals to color up better.

I've never added any supplements beyond the normal dosing. I'm also curious to what is working for people. There are so many different products on the market. Several of which I'm sure are snake oil.

I use microbacter 7. In the process if setting up my 2 part soon. Other than that just carbon and GFO

Water changes provide it for me. If I miss one I keep around some calcium, etc (the basics) and use Kent Coralvite then. I try not to miss though.

Besides Alk, Ca, & Mg? Food. Lots of food. Feed the fish 3 times a day, and feed the reef a couple times a week with ROE, phyto, oyster feast, roti feast.

Right now I'm also adding a potassium suppliment, as I'm testing low in potassium.

I live by the conservative rule of "don't dose anything you can't test for" and relatedly, "don't dose without testing".

Your going to know 1 of them. 2 gal. of reef stew a week. All of the frozen food I use Brightwell vitamin C & multi vitamin, Selco, spirulina powder, astaxanthin from Rod's food, & I supplement the live food with a pro biotic from Dan of Seahorse Sourse. All of my fish have bold bright color & the corals grow like weeds.

That's a great line up! Thanks for the info.

Are you mixing (Brightwell vitamin C & multi vitamin, Selco, spirulina powder, ) into your Rods Frozen food?

Do you use any garlic mixed in?

I've never used reef stew. I see it in the LFS but never tried it. Can you tell me a little bit about it? What's in it? Best way to use it for a 16 gallon tank?

Thanks!!

Yes I do & I also use a lot of different foods along with Rod's Foods.

No I don't use garlic.

To be brief it has 6 different algae's, 3 kinds of brine shrimp, pod, & rotifers in it. It is great for sps coral & zooplankton eating fish like anthias. For a 16 gal tank I would purchase 100ml. to start & that should cost you $1.00. It is best to target feed but most of the time I just dump it in.

when are you going to start weekly deliveries to Flag!?

We drive 100 miles every Friday doing the local deliveries so my wife purchased a small Jeep & we have it packed where she even has a cooler sometimes on the front seat.

Are their any salt water fish stores in Flagstaff?

Sounds good, thanks!!
