What the hell is this???

I was thinking some sort of feather duster as well. NO, its not aptasia!! LOL. They don't seem to get bigger, just hang out on the chaeto and now where else....

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Another vote for hydroids. Some of them pack a pretty good sting, so if the corals are irritated you'll have to manually remove them.

Or dusters. Whoever told that guy above that GSp's send out spores is smoking crack! Impossible. And having kept them for over a decade at no point in time do they ever start red and turn to purple. Thats just absurd.

So the GSP's that are on one rock by itself always has been, never touching anything. and yet I have GSP spreading all over the place. must be the second coming of Christ.

Again when I get home and take a picture, you will see MINE have a red under side. Unless these things that look like GSP, bought as GSP and spread like GSP aren't GSP........

Mine have never had the real purple as seen on other GSP, maybe with all your wisdom you can figure it out.

I wouldn't worry too much about them unless they are spreading like crazy. IME they never harmed anything or spread to more than a 1"x2" area. They were just one of the things that popped up on my live rock over the years. I think many people try to make their tanks too sterile. They're just part of the diversity of a reef tank as far as I'm concerned. But do what you want.

+1 hydroids. i have the same thing in my tank and they don't seem to bother anything and they don't seem to spread very fast neither. sometimes they'll grow into a small clump and you can pull them out with tweezers.
